Our last day in Rome. We were expecting some bursts of sunlight , views covering the Sant'Angelo Bridge and perhaps St Peters in the back, but once again, the season was a risky one, the rain was indeeed very heavy. While taking cover under a café door, I noticed these young looking priests on the bridge. They didn't not seem bothered by the rain, and were consulting a map or some document, right in the middle of the bridge. . I had my new 70-300 mm VR lens.
This was a good moment to try it.

an unusual "street" photograph about priests with umbrellas in rain.
Soft tones and rich ornaments of an old civilization well presented.
I think a more tight crop would be better. Hope you don't mind a WS.

The combination of the priests with their blue umbrellas and one of them gazing at the document this makes a memorable shot, especially with the Castel S. Angelo as the backdrop. Are you planning to come to the States soon?

A great image. Very roman too.
I like the tele lens view and the effect of the rain.

Tolga

Hi Izzet - Nice street photograph, do you think the priests are lost? Your use of DOF is good and I like the way the light is highlighting the blue umberellas. Very well spotted! Best regards Rosemary

Good focus on the couple. The blue umbrella's are a really great feature in the composition. I also like that you placed the two guys really close to the bottom of the frame. Lots of blur and noise in the background, which is wonderfully monochrome (except for that flag that plays its role in the composition).
A point of critique (if you allow me): I'd have prefered somewhat less sharpness on the statue top right corner, leaving only the two priest to take the attention.

İzzet Bey merhaba,
Roma karelerinizin devamı çok sevindirici.
St.Angela köprüsünün, böylesi gözle görülür yoğun yağmur dışında, her zamanki kalabalıklığında, bu sıra dışı kompozisyon zor bulunurdu.Rahiplerin varlığı, hem tepeden tırnağa bir örnek giyimleri hemde o yağmurda ne okuyorsa ? size dönük elindeki harita benzeri kocaman kağıtla farklı duruşlarını harika yakalamış, zor şartta bile ustalıkla görüntülemişsiniz.Elinize çabanıza sağlık diyor ve serinin devamını merakla bekliyorum.

nicely seen and composed image, good use of perspective and the tonal quality makes the two blue umbrellas stand out. Well taken.

Merhaba Izzet Bey. Yes, definitely an excellent opportunity to try your lens and a lovely result in which the blue is a strong accent in the otherwise drab background. The body language is also of interest. Just dropped in to wish you health and contentment for 2011. I have not forgotten your wise words and have learned significant thing about photography by studying your work. Selamlar. Klaudio.

Ces parapluies bleus attirent irrésistiblement l'il.La mise au point sélective met bien en valeur ces deux prêtres.

I spent about 5 minutes staring at your picture, it is a great one, although I usually say wow and go to look at others, something makes me look at it again and again.
The low POV creates a perfect triangular composition created by the frame of the statues and stone railing, depth of the field is ideal to highlight the two monks, and their uniform colours of clothes and umbrellas make a special balance to the shot.
