Photographer’s Note

During the months of October and November there are some culinary festivals that have the octopus as protagonist: here we are at the "Feast of the octopus" in Noventa Padovana. It's one of the most tasty cephalopods and is mainly eaten boiled.

mi fai venire l'acquolina in bocca! I polpi tornerrò a mangiarli a dicembre quando torno in Puglia, lì la sagra la fanno però ad agosto...

Bella foto, un po' controluce che però esalta i dettagli.

Hello Renzo,

This photo recalls me some remembering of trattoria trials when I was working in Catania.
The composition is efficient and even if the lightning was hard and produced burnt areas, it allowed to highlight the octopus and so goes in the right direction.

That my friend doesnt look cooked..and seems to be served on the table..octopus is a delicacy..i head people along the european coastline eat anything that swims :)

Uhhhh! Che razza di questione di tipo shakeaspeariano...come Amleto: essere o non essere? Perché io il polipo lo mangio con grande gusto, sì. ma... solo me lo ritrovo nel piatto al ristorante. Quando i miei figli erano piccoli e tornavano dal mare, trionfanti, con una simile cattura, io dicevo: " Oh...ma questa era la mamma di tanti polipetti... che adesso la cercheranno invano nelle profondità marine...Mammina, mammina, chiameranno...e nessuno più risponderà!". Allora ai miei bambini si colmavano gli occhi di lacrime e per qualche giorno dismettevano la loro caccia grossa.
Bella foto, Renzo, eccellente immagine con le truculente mani dell'uomo al lavoro. Ma... e la mamma del polipetto, che adesso lo cerca e lo cerca nelle profondità marine? E non lo rivedrà MAI più? Okay, la pianto. Anche i miei figli, quando adesso dico queste cose, ridono: ma per non piangere...pur avendo 28 e 30 anni. Ma la mamma é pur sempre la mamma, no?
