Photographer’s Note

This was taken from the upper road overlooking the ocean and the part of Riomaggiore where the train station is located.
Riomaggiore is a village and a commune in the province of La Spezia, situated in a small valley in the Liguria region of Italy. It is the first of the Cinque Terre one meets coming from La Spezia.
The village, dating from the early thirteenth century, is known for its historic character and its wine, produced by the town's vineyards. Riomaggiore is in the Riviera di Levante region and has shoreline on the Mediterranean's Gulf of Genoa, with a small beach and a wharf framed by tower houses. Riomaggiore has one or two roads where people socialise, but most of the life at night can be found at the Bar Centrale.
The village is also famous for having numerous aquariums and zoos, all with native Italian animals and sealife in them.
The Via dell'Amore is a path connecting Riomaggiore to its frazione Manarola, also part of the Cinque Terre.
Riomaggiore is the most southern village of the five Cinque Terre, all connected by trail. The water and mountainside have been declared national parks.

Hello Asa,
An interesting downwards point of view over the little town and the adjacent coastline. Very good colours and sharpness. The red roofs of the buildings make a nice contrast with the dark green tones of the vineyards.

A beautiful plunging view of this superb coastal scenery . I like the contrasted colors , too .
I make a WS , to correct the tilt , and to crop the tree in the left , that was not necessary , for my taste .

Hi Asa,

This is a truly beautifull photo. I love that neat metal fence and it curbe that folowes a bit the bay line. It gives it a slight sense of perspective.

Let me smile: people living in America calls "ocean" also our little seas, Adriatic Sea, or Tirreno Sea! We live in a little country, and we have little seas!

Hello Asa,

Riomaggiore is ma favourite village in Cinque Terre but I didn't know all you indicated in the note. It's really interesting !
I didn't know this Riomaggiore view because I went it by car and I'm glad to discover a new view on Riomaggiore. Colors are very nice.

A beautiful place and beautiful colours. But there is a slight tilt of the horizon here, which I would have corrected if I were you ;-) But the landscape here is really something I would like to see once!

Hi Asa,

The mountain and the trees are framing well the village. The point of view leads our eyes toward the horizon which is giving depth to the composition. It is also allowing us to see the details and colors of the houses of the village. The afternnon light has a good effect on the colors. have a nice day.

un joli point de vue avec de l'altitude et de la profondeur, un avant plan qui se dégage par la force de ses couleurs et ainsi crée le relief. Un horizon qui penche un peu sur la gauche.

Hello Asa,
though not a real ocean (Ligurian Sea) but the more beautiful blue colour. Taken in quite dangerous light conditions (a slight reflection on the filter seems to be present in the middle of the picture) the photo has an excellent 3D-effect.

Hi Asa, Good POV looking along the coast and the green terraced hillside has a strong diagonal which improves the image. Good greens and blues. The horizon dips slightly to the left but not an issue. TFS. Murray.
