Photographer’s Note
Riomaggiore is a village and a commune in the province of La Spezia, situated in a small valley in the Liguria region of Italy. It is the first of the Cinque Terre one meets coming from La Spezia.
Riomaggiore, the first village of the Cinque Terre.
The village, dating from the early thirteenth century, is known for its historic character and its wine, produced by the town's vineyards. Riomaggiore is in the Riviera di Levante region and has shoreline on the Mediterranean's Gulf of Genoa, with a small beach and a wharf framed by tower houses. Riomaggiore has one or two roads where people socialise, but most of the life at night can be found at the Bar Centrale.
The Via dell'Amore is a path connecting Riomaggiore to its frazione Manarola, also part of the Cinque Terre.
Riomaggiore is the most southern village of the five Cinque Terre, all connected by trail. The water and mountainside have been declared national parks. (wiki)

Asa, this is a fine capture. I have a new guy in my office and we spent the last 10 minutes talking about the merits and demerits of super wide glass, and in the end I decided that i really like the effect of the wide with it's distortion. You certainly see a lot of interesting places and to our great fortune you do a superb job of photographing them and sharing with the rest of us. Nice work.

Hello Asa,
I like the wide angle view of the buildings hugging the narrow waterway and steep sides, with earthtones offset by a dramatic sky.
Good job,

Hi Asa
Fine shooting conditions and a luminous image but the distortion is too strong, 3 vertical frames stitched would do better in that situation
Have a nice day JY

Well captured photo Asa!
At last you arrived at Le Cinque Terre!
Good low POV which allowed you to show the entire village (I chose a higher one to get more sea) and you also found a gorgeous sky, really spectacular. When I was there the sky was whitish all the time!
Fine colours and contrast and an interesting composition.
Best regards,
Donato

Hi Asa,
The distortion is great here, and very much complimented by the lines in the clouds. It seems like a recurring theme in both the sky and the land that the entire village and nature both disappear at the same point on the horizon. Unusual effect!
Cheers,

Hi Asa,
The sky has a great effect on the composition. The point of view takes our eyes toward the buildings in the background which is giving depth an perspective to the composition. It is also showing the details anc colors of the buildings. A good management of the light which is enhancing the colors of the picture. jhave a nice day.

Hi Asa,
Beautiful use of the wide-angle lens on this photograph to emphasize this part of the village and to give it much of depth. I like much coloured contrasts and this splendid sky which brings relief to your compostion. Well done Asa and interesting, thank you.

Hello Asa,
Thee is a sunburst effect in reverse here, with the cloud pattern seemingly radiating outward. The composition is excellent as is the quality of the photo. The use of the very wide lens has caused the vertical 'parallel lines' to appear to converge considerably lower than they would to the naked eye. If you won't regard it as meddling, I would like to try a ws. The photo is fabulous as it stands, but the ws will resemble the product of a series of stitched images.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Asa,
the POV is perfect for your marvellous wide lens, and so is the sky with those "striped-clouds". The contrast could be judged excessive, due to several parts of the picture completely black, but this choice gives to your posting a great character (different from the classical postcard). Well done, Dario.

Hello Asa !
Great shot of Riomaggiore ! Nice composition and colors ! Good the idea to increase the marina depth with the Canon 10-22 !!
Riomaggiore is my prefered village of the Cinque Terre. I have visited it on the morning at 7:00, but there isn't enough sun to get the colors you have.
Thanks for your comment on Corniglia photo. There were only 377 steps to get Corniglia, so few ! ;-))
Tomorrow, I will add a photo of Riomaggiore from the road.
Best regards.

Hello Asa,
This is totally different from the North-American cities and so much nicer and more intimate, more personal.
I really like the V-shaped composition and the blend of warm and cool colors.
Nice work in the workshop to correct the geometry from Bulent...
