Photographer’s Note

I was crossing along the road that leads from Licata to the center of Sicily, at this time full of beautiful landscapes. The weather did not let hope for anything good, when all of a sudden the sun passed through the clouds and illuminated here and there the green field, giving new shapes and magic colors.
Here we are just around Riesi.

Carissimo, Giorgio.
Direi che non potevi beccare un attimo migliore. Uno scatto bilanciato in ogni sua componente, in special modo per quanto riguarda la luminosita` che qui e` assolutamente fondamentale. Spettacolare e drammatico il contrasto tra il cielo cupo ed il verde brillante dei campi, con la chicca dei casolari che luccicano in cima alla collina. Da incorniciare, bravissimo! Ehi Giorgione! Ti dico la verità. Stavo pensando ad un WS per togliere la leggera grana sui novoloni. Mi sono fermato perchè sarebbe stato un peccato togliere la "ruvidezza" di queste atmosfera e luce uniche. Eccezionale lo spicchio azzurro. A mio parere avrebbe reso anche con un panoramico. (diciamo due cm in meno in basso ed uno in alto?)

Lovely effect of the sky being so threatening in those grey hues. The lower part, too, is really nice in its color combination. A well balanced presentation with excellent contrasts.

Une superbe composition très contrastée.Le ciel dramatique magnifie les couleurs et j'aime l'ambiance ressentie .La trouée de ciel bleu est le petit plus de cette photo.
Est ce le PP qui donne ce bruit et ces taches dans le ciel?

Excellent lighting in this scene, not only what the weather offered, but your set up allows the subtle changes of the lasndscape to show without losing the lighter areas of the clouds and the small piece of blue sky. rolling fields and hills are always beautiful, a grand scene...

Cupe turbolenze nel cielo. Mi sembra quasi di udire i tuoni. Splendido il contrasto con la campagna così verde. Superba l'immagine lontana di quella vecchia casa ancora intrisa di sole.

questo quadro metà cielo metà terra è stupendo! Le dolci curve della terra tra luce e ombra sembrano riflettersi nei nuvoloni scuri e creano un contrasto di colori e di sensazioni. Le casette bianche sullo sfondo completano un'atmosfera di grande suggestione. Complimenti!

Hi Giorgio,

what a glorious moment...you don't hear any noise, there is no wind wherever you look and in the background you can see those menaceous clouds coming changing the whole landscape. And then everything goes very quickly: colors are getting one moment very vivid, then wind comes up and rain is pouring down...fabolous picture!

titolo molto appropriato!
A volte un cielo grigio e minaccioso, è più bello e compositivo di uno tutto azzurro.
Ovviamente dipende molto anche dal contesto generale della scena ripresa.
Molto bella l'ondulazione dei campi (prevalentemente verdi).
Il cielo però sul nuvolone grigio, sembra essere un pò rumoroso.

Caro Giorgio, questa è una bella foto. Il cielo grigio covare contrasti anche con il bel verde campi. Il tuo cielo è molto drammatica e cerca di essere un HDR, ma so che non lo è. Anche in questo caso, le texture dei campi sono resi magnificamente. Lei ha fatto un grande lavoro, ancora una volta, Lisa.

Bonjour Giorgio.
On est loin des clichés habituels sur la Sicile. Ce paysage est d'une grande beauté. L'orage arrive et le ciel s'obscurcit alors que la lumière s'attarde encore sur certaines parties des champs.

The saturation gives superb colours to the fields.
Unfortunately, the dark part of the sky is a little bit noisy, but the contrast is excellent.

Bellissima Giorgio,
questi contrasti di luce e questa varietà di toni sono spettacolari. Mi piace anche come hai costruito l'immagine, in particolare l'edificio illuminato posto sul bordo sinistro, in modo da non renderlo protagonista ma solo comprimario di una scena molto più complessa e ricca di elementi.

It's much of a common place saying this, but I don't resist doing it here: it reminds a beautiful painting. I guess it is just a way of praising much the compo and the light. The gradient on the sky is amazing and adds to the pattern of greens and earth tones below to make it a memorable photo.

e' proprio vero che quando si guardano immagini digitali, il piu' delle volte non si vede esattamente quello che l'autore aveva in mente... questa foto l'ho visionata su 3 monitor diversi, e ho visto 3 foto diverse. una ipersatura e "impastata" come dice giorgio, un'altra con il rumore nelle nuvole, e un'altra rilassante e morbida... per cui vado per la terza =)
impressionante cielo, ma soprattutto di grande effetto il contrasto cromatico grigio-verde, che domina tutta l'immagine.

Mi piacciono molto queste situazioni di luce...rarissime da trovare, a volte quando capita il raggio di sole poi non riesco mai a trovare in tempo un soggetto o un orizzonte valido da fotografare...Mi piace questa tua cattura così contrastata, ottimo il taglio.

photo aux lumières magiques comme je les aime, l'inversion entre ciel et terre divinement capturée. Un post processing qui se voit un peu mais qui est terriblement efficace pour renforcer l'ambiance dramatique.

Your photo reminds me of one of Van Gogh's landscapes. It has such an unusual mix of beautiful bright colour and dark, foreboding greys at the same time, something not often seen together, but here it works perfectly!

me gusta esta composición minimalista, con pocos elementos pero que tienen una gran fuerza visual y estética, como los campos verdes, la pequeña granja en el horizonte y el impresionante cielo con nubarrones grises amenazando con una tormenta.
Todo aporta un fuerte grafismo a la imagen.
