Photographer’s Note

A jump from the cold, snowy and icy winter of the north to the warmth of summer in Italy. ;-)
This is again one of the enchanting narrow alleys of the small town Monte San Biagio in Lazio. It is located 10 kilometres north-east from Terracina and 100 kilometres south-east from Rome.

The town Monte San Biagio is situated on a small hill 133 metres high, detached from mountains Fate (1090 m) and Calvo (1038 m). The town lies next to the Via Appia, once the main road from Rome to Campania. It is also connected by a branch of the Via Flacca from Terracina to Gaeta.
The urban structure of the town (now around 6000 inhabitants in the whole municipality) consists of a nucleus of buildings resting against a bare rock. When you have reached the oldest part of Monte San Biagio town on the top of the hill, you are in the middle of a labyrinth of charming narrow alleys, most of which also have steps. Some of the houses are more coloured than the others, but common to the alleys are the flower boxes and pots in front of the houses.

More about Monte San Biagio here.
My other Monte San Biagio photos are here.
