Photographer's Note

If you don't know anything about Bologna, you probably never travelled in northern Italy. Bologna is a beautiful city in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, right in the middle of high-transit trains. From Milano to Roma, from Firenze to Venizia, most of the trains go through this old roman city.

The picture shows how the modern town constructed itself over the millenium old city of the roman empire. The long straight roads, all converging to a center in the shape of a star are a typical exemple of that architecture.

The shot was taken from the summit of Bologna's highest leaning tower. Many centuries ago, the richest families were building towers to show their power. Now, few survive the hundreds that shaped that city as a porcupine.
