Photographer’s Note
Back to the summer me too. :-)
Having seen the the Campidoglio photos of Clementi, an artistic B&W photo and a fantastic dawn photo, I was encouraged to upload my own photo from there. This is shot from the top of the same stairs, to the opposite direction towards the Piazza di Campidoglio and it is taken in the middle of May. Although it was sunny, the clouds just then were hidden behind the summer clouds.
------------
The Capitoline Hill, between the Forum and the Campus Martius, is one of the seven hills of Rome. By the 16th century, Capitolinus had become Campidoglius in the Roman dialect. Similarly, the English word capitol derives from Capitoline. The Capitoline contains few ancient ground-level ruins, as they are almost entirely covered up by Medieval palaces (now the Capitoline Museums) that surround a piazza. A significant portion of the architecture in this area was designed by Michelangelo.
The building on the right is Palazzo Senatorio ("Senatorial Palace"), which was built during the 13th and 14th century, stands atop the Tabularium that had once housed the archives of ancient Rome. Peprino marble blocks from the Tabularium were re-used in the left side of the palace and a corner of the bell tower. It now houses the Roman city hall. Its double ramp of stairs were designed by Michelangelo. The fountain in front of the staircase features the river gods of the Tiber and the Nile as well as Dea Roma (Minerva). Its bell tower was designed by Martino Longhi the Elder and built between 1578 and 1582. Its current facade was designed by Giacomo della Porta and Girolamo Rainaldi.

Fantastic angle that allows us to see a good number of buildings. I like the lamppost you've included on the left and the lack of lens distortion. The building in the far distance is in the perfect spot, just off center. Sharpness and colors both couldn't be any better.

Ciao Lasse,
this picture was a complete surprise for me, both for its beauty and for the subject. I've never seen il Campidoglio and now I realize I've missed a lot. The confrontation with that one of clementi cannot be avoided, but I think they belong to a different genre. Your photo is an alive picture that depicts how the place is in reality, with all the people and cars too. I appreciate very much the pov and the sharpness. The image is very clear, with a good sense of depth and fine natural colours. Really an engaging travel photo that satisfy both the need for an elegant composition and the necessity of documentation.
All the best,
Donato

Hallo Lasse!
Here you show us a true variety of superb buildings framing a wonderful square, better piazza. Thanks to the outstanding quality of your picture one can detect many many beautiful architectural details. Even the "inevitable" pigeons are visible and these people give a good scale for these impressive facades. A photo to occupy the viewer ...
Greetings from cold and very windy Westphalia - have a nice Sunday! Thank you for all the visits in my collection ;-)

And now I notice that I have no points left for today. I'm really sorry! Please take this as a substitute: ;-)))

Ciao Lasse,
molto bella questa veduta laterale del Campidoglio a Roma.
Apprezzabile la doppia diagonale dell'isola pedonale sotto la fontana e la scalinata che rende dinamica la scena.
Ottimi colori e sharp.

Hello Lasse,
as an artist I consider this perspective view simply excellent - for a photo and for a drawing/painting! Excellent sense of depth. It is very impressive, so many interestnig details, beautful architecture...
To me this photo looks rather "geometrical" because I see many straight and diagonal lines, all intertwined and connected to each other... I rarely see such perfect "artistically geometrical" shots!
Warm regards,
and have a nice Sunday!

Hej Lasse,
These magnificient stairs dominate your composition. This is certainly a very beautiful place (as many other places in this city) with the interesting museum. Indeed a very sharp capture.

Hei Lasse,
People look so small next to those massive buildings. Good high viewpoint showing less usual angle. Hard to say wherether this would be better on sunshine or not. Depends on where the shadows would go.

Ciao Lasse,
at the beginning I have remember the Clementi work… but i join with Donato ... two different rendering.
I like above all the colors (very soft tone of the yellow) and the depth of the composition with beautiful stairs.
A good shot.
Cheers

Grande idea
Ciao Lasse
Il punto di ripresa al contrario di quello di Giorgio.
Quello della chiesa è più angolato.
