Photographer’s Note

Il SS. Salvatore è il più vasto edificio religioso della città, eretto nei primi decenni del XVIII secolo dai capimastri netini Falesi, Elia, e Dato.
La nuova basilica doveva sostituire la vecchia, già in costruzione dal 1723 ma nel 1790 "ormai in rovina", le cui preesistenze sono state probabilmente distrutte con la costruzione del nuovo seminario si sviluppa con l’asse longitudinale all’interno dello spazio occupato anticamente dal primitivo chiostro del monastero, inglobandone così una parte dal lato ovest ed innalzandosi rispetto ai volumi dello stesso.

The SS.Salvatore is the vast religious building in the city, erect in the first decades of the XVIII century from the capimastris netini Falesi, Elia and Datum. The new basilica had to replace the old one, already in construction from 1723 but in 1790 "by now in downfall", whose preesistenze has probably been destroyed with the construction of the new seminar it anciently develops him with the longitudinal axle inside the busy space from the primitive cloister of the monastery, englobing of it so a part from the west side and raising itself in comparison to the volumes of the same.

I see that Noto is a wonderful town. It has so many interesting historical buildings.

Dico solo che la foto è apprezzabilissima!

questa chiesa è davvero molto bella, in effetti per il fatto di essere molto vicina al Duomo è un pò offuscata.
Ma tu l'hai scovata ed hai tirato fuori un bellissimo scatto. Valeva la pena di non sacrificare la scala.

Hello Maurizio,
A good composition of this splendid and imposing church. I very much like the point of view despite the parked cars, which you can't really help. The people on the steps add a different splash of colour and give a good sense of scale. A very pleasing light which brings out the architecture to good effect with good natural tones and detail.

Excellent shadow detail on the facade, with a well managed exposure level. A marvellous colour contrast, between the blue sky & yellow ochre colors of the building. Good sharpness & perspective also. Tfs!

You chose a very well angle this care for nice perspective and depth in this image. Nice contrast between the white stone front and blue sky.
