Last in this short series abut the quieter side of Venice. This place, out of the centre, had a real small town atmosphere, with no tourists, and locals chatting to each other in the street.

backstreets are always good :-)! probably your best from the series. very well composed, good colours (i think.. given this monitor.. :-( ..) perhaps just a bit too much contrast and too much adjustment on the midtones(?) resulting in some excessive noise on the river) love the old couple and the boat approaching, a great daily life indeed (where are all the tourists :-)?) an excellent capture!

A slice of daily life beautifully portrayed. This city is so full of charm, even more out of the main touristic spots. Well composed.

Each building have some different style of windows and ventilators. The shining of the first boat is attractive.
Good composition and good POV.

Places like this one still exist, it is surprising in Venice to see people hardly getting through on the crowded main artery while a few steps away places like this one are nearly empty. Good canal perspective where the not tourist looking ladies stress out there are still normal people living there, I also like the warm touch of the foreground boat.
Have a nice day,

bonjour Richeard, j'aime beaucoup cette série sur l'Italie, les coulerus sont très douces et pastels, la composition est très bien soignée, j'aime,ici,le fait qu'il y ait des personnages sur le trottoir

I like this shot, the POV and colours are beautiful, but I find great the absence of tourists, this is really another Venice!

imagine this is a 10 years old image and i have a feeling as if it were portraying the place 50 years ago: look, there is not a single sign of the upcomming 21 century, just as if it was ages ago;
timelessness is what this shot is about;

Serwus Richard !
Interesting study of perspective along the canal.
I also wanted to discover this far from Piazza backstreets once and got lost at night... :)

nice! i really like this one richard ... it has a great sense of depth, and i really like the framing being offset by the two women on the right. it's nice to let my eye wander down the canal, looking at the myriad of different shaped windows!
it would have been nice if you'd had your camera angle a little lower, getting the full boat and a bit more of the water, and less of the sky. i think the canal is your subject.

Good morning Richard,
you move now towards the more populated spots...
More beople and more boats on the "street".
The green tree looks fine between the pastel colors of the houses.

very nice shot here, I like the people on the right of this photo and the blurredness of the rest, very well seen

A superb example of diminishing linear perspective, with vanishing point. Marvellous color, let down a bit only by the pixellated tricolor sky. But good work overall & tfs!

perhaps your best from the series. I like the fantastic incorporation of the people in this scene. They arent just part of the photo, they are the prominent feature. I like the feeling of waiting, anticipation as they look into the distance. I like the colors, very rich..were you ever tempted to do this in b/w or sepia? B/w would look great with the noise.

I have enjoyed this series, well scanned images of side of Venice not often seen - this one complements the rest - TFS :)

Quite a pretty daily life moment from Venice. The colors and light are just lovely. Good PoV as well. It's quite a rare photo, especially that this canal has sidewalks :D The more real side of Venice. Good stuff. Well done.
p.s. Your older photos are wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent shot of everyday life in Venice-so different and so unique.
The scene with the two women talking is well cought and it makes the picture more real and vivid.
