This was another photo taken at Carnival in Venice where we went to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. This couple were promenading St Mark's Square and posing for photographs.
The character in black is holding a sign which means "The fantasy never dies". May that continue to be true.
It was beautifully sunny, with a glorious blue sky. The original shot was a little overexposed, so I've compensated in PP by increasing the contrast and backing off the brightness.

Hello, Steve! I'm happy to see this picture, since I was there in Carnival at the opening, on 30/01/2005 - I'm also going to place here some photos of masks! These two are really great! The most we have seen there were not so funny, but more serious..!
I also admire the composition - the heads of the masks fit in the archs of behind! Was is made by occasion or planned so?

Great picture of the Venice Carnival. I like very much the colors and you had a good idea to compose this picture with this nice architecture behind. Well done!

Happy Anniversary - we were also married twenty five years last year but we only went for a curry at the Windmill pub in fantastically romantic Loughborough! I had all sorts of romantic notions about going somewhere exotic! It was a good curry though!
I like your picture - which I have seen a number of times now - I haven't commented before (out loud) as I have been looking at others of this popular photographic subject. I like this for it's simplicity of approach and style in relation to the complexity of the visual information portrayed. I like the subtle sense of movement and the gaze of the left hand figure contrasted with a stiller (and gazing out of frame right) position of the the left hand figure. Framed against the backdrop of the building I think the whole adds up to a really nice documentary photograph of this festival.
My quibble - I don't much like the poles but then I guess you may have cursed them yourself for being there too!

One of my favorite event and city in the World! The colors are so intense, so sharp. I wish I can get colours like this (...some day) Great job!

Love this shot. It showed how people dress up in the Carnival. You captured the expression of these people. Well done
