Photographer's Note
Doge's Palace was initially was built in the IX century A.D. It was more like a castle than a palace with four sighting towers and high defensive walls. Later, due to a series of fires and subsequent rebuilding, it became what we can see today - a splendid example of Venetian gothic architecture.
This imposing building has the one feature typical of Venetian architecture: lightness. Despite its considerable size, the multi-coloured façade decorations and the splendid perforation of the Gothic loggias, like stone lace, give us an elegant structure that isn't heavy in appearance.

Hello May,
I´ve heard a lot about Doge´s Palace and its beauty. And I must say your presentation live up this expectations. The architecture we can admire here is really stunning, but what I like more about it is this beautiful play of light&shade you were able to capture here so nice.Excellently composed and framed scene.I like also your idea to concentrate only on smaller part of this impressive Palace.Nicely done!
Best regards

Hi May,
Those sunlit spots in the shadows catch attention even more than the openings above the columns. Very nice architectural details, I'm not sure if I've seen such before.

Hi May,
Anothe really good shot, I love the successive and layer of patterns and design of the columns. I also love the way the light that form the flower like shape in the dark of the shadow. Very cool effect and good depth here and the dark shadow also looks like many Bhuda statues in a roll.

Dear May
What I love is how the sun created patterns created by the flower shaped windows on the darkish wall in the BG. Lovely effect of the repeating columns & balustrades. Nice picture from this famous Venetian landmark!
