Punta della Dogana, a photo from Venice, Veneto

Photographer's Note

Zoom captured from the top of the bell tower of San Marco that shows us the Punta della Dogana with behind the Basilica della Salute. The Punta della Dogana divides the Canal Grande (the right) from the Canale della Giudecca (the left). In the other side of the Canale della Giudecca, despite the haze, you can also see the Basilica del Rendetore, a church very beloved by the Venetians.
Photo devoted to Francesco (Francio64) also called "Assessore" as a reminder of the beautiful day spent together.

Una zoomata dalla cima del Campanile di San Marco che ci mostra la Punta della Dogana con dietro la Basilica della Salute. La Punta della Dogana divide il Canal Grande (nella destra) da il Canale della Giudecca (nella sinistra). Nell'altra sponda del Canale della Giudecca, malgrado la foschia, è possibile vedere anche la Basilica del Rendetore, una chiesa molto amata dai Veneziani.
Come da gentile richiesta, dedico questa foto a Francesco (francio64) chiamato anche "Assessore", come ricordo della bella giornata passata insieme.

Well ... I was in Venice many times, but the tower - is not just because my feet are a bit wrong - not yet got up. From here it looks a whole lot in the beautiful city.
Together, I have not seen the Dogana, the Redentor, Fusina and in the distance. What can I say? interesting :-)

A perspective of Venice completely new for me. This city is always a beauty. I like the red roofs contrasting the blue of the sea and the traffic in the chanels. Good quality and depth of field.

of all the venice photos we have seen, this is one of my favorites, simply because of the point of view.
its funny too, how with all these classic homes, we see cranes way into the bg - new construction perhaps?

Ciao caro Paolo, una zoomata di classe che abbraccia uno dei punti più belli di Venezia. Hai gestito la luce in maniera egregia da far esaltare i colori che a mio avviso sono molto caldi. Complimenti per questo pezzo che và ad arricchire la tua galleria.
P.S. Dal Ponte dell'Accademia viene una ripresa favolosa, anche se molto fotografata!!!!

Ciao Paolo, This is a lovely picture of the Basilica and the red roofed buildings surrounding the structure. To have a great shot like this, one must have some altitude, which you certainly had from San Marcos. Beautiful setting with the colors of the water in various sections of the picture. I first visited this area when I was a US Army officer stationed in Vienna Austria circa 1952. I enjoy seeing pictures of Venice and its surroundings and you do a great job in satisfying that wish. Alas, the last two times I was there, it rained and the tourists were overwhelming. I imagine, the only time I will see Venice in the future, is by viewing the fine pictures that you post here. I definitely must go another time to Venice and climb the Bell Tower. But at the moment I am worried about my passport sent to Berlin and not received yet with the Myanmar visa.

Amazing view from above, red roofs and green water, like in Italy, wonderful architecture of Dogana and Salute. Stunning sharpness, allowing us to admire so many details. I can recognize visited places. Also for me nice remember if beautiful days in Venice (and Treviso :).

Dear Paolo,

I was in Venice recently, but did not go up the bell tower - there was just too much to see and do !! Maybe that means I need to go back again....:) I like this view - it is a more uncommon one of Venice; maybe it's because most of us are too lazy to climb up the tower ! :)

Eccellente veduta di una Serenissima alquanto insolita. Quanti gatti, difatti, sarebbero stati in grado di raggiungere il campanile di San Marco? E certo il problema non consisteva nell'arrampicata, si sa, i felini ce la fanno sempre. La questione era quella del peso della fotocamera... da portarsi...come? Ma tu ce l'hai fatta a meraviglia. A conferma di quello che penso sempre: sei un gattaccio davvero unico e speciale...

When visiting Venice one must certainly climb up that bell tower. The view shows the beauty of the city with the alternation of land and water.
On the canals it's pretty busy and the green water is wonderful in contrast with all those red roofs.

Credo che resterei ore, se fosse possibile, ad ammirare questo panorama dalla cima del campanile di San Marco... questa città in mezzo a l'acqua è proprio il posto per me.
hai trovato una bella mattinata di sole che ha fatto risplendere i tetti delle case e l'acqua creando un bel contrasto verde/rosso. La composizione ha una grande profondità e dinamicità grazie a i vari strati di case e canali e la nostra vista si perde di fronte a tanti monumenti.
Un bel contributo a Venezie a a Te.

Usually Venice is shown in photos from the level of canals, bridges and streets. This bird's-eye view shows the whole part of this wonderful city, with its magnificent architecture, including beautiful red tiled roofs, and blue sea around it. Very good point of view, excellent composition, interesting details, informative description in the note and, as usual, perfect quality of the picture!

Ah… the view does make me nostalgic. I was there a long time ago. What a great perspective, the uniformity and the clarity of the image are very inviting. I remember well the colours of water in Venice. And all the lovely streets contained within the city. Very effectively composed view is convincing. ACCIDENTI, MANNAGGIA, MARRONAMIA CHE FOTO! Il tuo POV e' proprio unica, non l'ho mai visto prima. Le strutture dei tetti da la scena tanto carattera e quel verde della laguna significa che possiamo essere solo in Venezia. Sopratutto, la Basilica e' un vero tesoro. La Serenissima e' anche piu' risplendente oggi.

Grazie per la condivisione, e' un piacere di vederla. Sono sicuro che l'Assessore l'apprezzera'.

A superb high pov image from this famous landmark and a well plan composition. A very well taken with attractive foreground and the famous dome as being the major focal point is nicely arranged and placed with tremendous effect. Lovely green water separating from the background. Excellent detail, sharp and superbly exposed in excellent light although slight haze is visible in the far bg. I really love the depth and sense of of scale. A wonderful sight in gorgeous colors. Well done. Congrats.

beautiful classic view from Venice. For some reason people while on top of this tower tend to take photos of the other side so this is actually a less popular perspective to the extraordinary church and its surrounding. The diagonals divide the view into several interesting layers.
