Certainly no other place in the world rivals Murano's tradition in ornamental glass making. Vetreria Ducale in Murano offers free demonstrations performed by master glass blowers, who in a matter of minutes transform blobs of molten glass in pieces of art. The few minutes are absolutely sufficient to convince the viewer that this is indeed tough work requiring plenty of training. Highly recommended.
Finding the place is easy, because it is less than five minutes away from the main vaporetto station and usually employees will try to attract the tourists as soon as these step off the boat. Immediately after the demonstration the visitors are funneled into the large Murano glass show rooms, which are recommended only to those who can afford expensive souvenirs.
Murano is one of the islands forming the city of Venice.

I wonder how long before this man is put out of his job by Chinese mass production, as has been the case of too many Czech master glass blowers. Our glass-making industry has been nearly destroyed.
Great daily-life scene, nicely composed. Good light management and very natural colours.
Greetings to Calgary, Dasha

Excellent shot of a glass maker. It's a lively daily life scene with the craftsman working. Well researched note as well. Personally I would had move a bit more towards the oven to capture the craftsman less in profile, but that could have been not possible. I do not know, you know better. Thanks for sharing

Well done Roland
The image is well composed and the natural light has been well managed. The look of concentration on his face tells it all.
