Photographer's Note

Montagnana is a town of 9,532 inhabitants in the province of Padua.
In addition to the stunning fortified complex, the city is appreciated for the urban fabric, made of streets and buildings arose during the Renaissance and part in the economic recovery of the nineteenth century .. The large central square, the cathedral stretches (1431-1502), from the impressive late-Gothic forms with Renaissance additions. All 'inside you can admire: the Transfiguration of Paolo Veronese, three works by John Buonconsiglio said Marshal (XVI c.), A large canvas votive valuable documentary depicting the Battle of Lepanto (1571). The walls are decorated with refined decorations and frescoes, among them, remarkable, that in the apse of the Buonconsiglio, and on either side of the entrance, Judith and David, recently attributed to Giorgione. Also on the square, overlooking the 'Valeri elegant Palace and the old pawnshop. In Via Matteotti is the palace Magnavin-Foratti in refined Venetian Gothic style, which is said to have been the residence of Jacoba, wife of the leader Erasmo da Narni called Gattamelata. By way of Carrara, the town hall, attributed Veronese architect Michele Sanmicheli (1532). As a Scaligera there is a late-Romanesque church of St. Francis, with adjoining monastery of the Poor Clares, by way of St. Benedict overlooking the baroque church of the same name (under restoration). Just outside of 'town, close to Porta Padova, there is the Villa Pisani, one of the masterpieces of Palladio, that all' inside houses statues of Alessandro Vittoria (1525-1608). Of note, in Montagnana of the ancient Hospital of St. Mary, and in the street, the church of St. Anthony the Abbot, with traces of Templar.

Hello Silvio my neighbour !
Nice capture of this city wals in good light.
Interesting to see them in such good condition. Unfortunately city walls of İstanbul are not as good as this one.

You have found a very good position for this picture, the closest tower at a pleasant third of the view and the long wall as a good diagonal. This is indeed a very impressive fortification and a very attractive photo.

Very impressive fortress and a very attractive picture.
Excellent point of view into the picture, close to the corner of the tower and the walls showing the front page of the next four towers, creating a wonderful perspective. Beautiful colors and good sharpness.

Ciao Silvio,
ero sul punto di pubblicare anche io una foto di Montagnana simile alla tua, poi ho deciso per Roma.Ci saremmo fatti una concorrenza involontaria.
Di questa si può solo dire che la composizione è perfetta e che esalta la stupenda bellezza di queste mura, tra le più belle in Europa. Ottimi, come tuo solito tutti i parametri, sui quali è inutile ripetersi.

Ciao Silvio
A Montagnana ci siamo stato un paio di anni fà con Paolo e Paola e di foto ne abbiamo scattate parecchie ma nessuna con questa bellissima angolazione (se non sbaglio e dalla parte opposta dell' entrata principale ),
Molto bella e superba la torre in primo piano e la luce che da sinistra colpisce le mura creando delle bellissime ombre sul verde.
Ottimo lavoro e grazie della condivisione.

Bonjour Silvio,

Elles sont longues ces murailles qui ressemblent un peu à celles de Lucca. L'angle de vue semble accentuer cette impression de profondeur. La lumière est superbement gérée.

Le mura sono impressionanti e, malgrado i belli e forti colori, attirano l' attenzione irresistibilmente. E pensare che non sono ancora riuscito a vederle, pur passando da li vicino almeno due volte all'anno, però sempre di fretta :(

Ciao Silvio,

Italy has such a wealth of bueatiful places to see and photograph and this is another fine example.
I love how you have used the edge of the tree, in the f/g, to create that sense of depth; it makes a good diagonal lead to the tallest of the towers. From there, the receding wall and diminishing towers produce a wonderful sense of perspective.
The long shadows are instrumental in defining the contours of the land.

Such a simple but effective composition. Very well realised colours and the texture of the wall. The front tower perfectly positioned. The tree on the left provides the perfect balance. Thanks a lot sir, for sharing. I think there is a lot to be learnt from your pictures.
