Photographer's Note
What better way to work off the excesses of a fine dinner and wine the night before than to get out of bed before 6 a.m. on holiday in Italy and wander through the vineyards and olive groves and watch the sun come up through the mists hanging in the valleys below?
This was taken one early morning during our wonderful stay last week at an agriturismo at Pizzogallo, just a few kilometres south of Amelia. You can read about this agriturismo here - a place we would certainly recommend to anyone wishing to stay in this area. If you look here and drag the little yellow man down to the red cross, you can see the entrance to the place (it now has a rather nice formal gate at the end of the road) just off the main route from Orte to Amelia.
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE9.

Hi John,
It must have been lovely time in agrotourismo in Umbria. As you noticed, I always ru n seeing as much as possible, and rarely just relax. And ladscape there is so charming. Excesses of a fine dinner and wine _ I can easily imagine this! So just to go early in the morning was splendid idea. Beautiful mormning mist , nice small blue flowers. Charming shot.
Warm regards, we ahave a big storm with lightings, but the wind and rain to strong to make photos.

Gidday John
I've been at work since 6:30am so couldn't resist a little TE. This is a wonderful shot of Silvio's Umbria, he'd be delighted with it. I love the mist, and how it reacts with those undulating hills. The soft colours are magical. What a blessing that you weren't too hungover to enjoy the wonders of an early morning in Italia.
TFS and I wish you a beautiful evening in Bonny Scotland

Hello John - This is my kind of shot and taken at my favourite time of day! The layered contours of the hills with strands of sun-lit mist are superb with just enough detail and definition. The FG with olive tree and vines set either side of the winding road and the peppering of pretty blue flowers is so appealing. For me this is a sensitive and artistic image which captures the atmosphere of the early morning really well. Top class. Warm regards Rosemary

Hi John,
Tremendous! You have caught the mist and early morning light that characterises so many excellent landscape pictures. They are however hard to do and you did very well. As I like this so much I feel that I can be just a touch picky on composition. Perhaps having a little more or less of the road on the right. I also played with cropping a little off the top to remove the overexposed bit and you still get the lovely recession. Just a matter of personal taste and I still love it to bits. First class quality.

Hi John,
I am finding this photo a bit confusing. When I look down the wildflowers and the olives I see Mediteranean when i look up and I see the mist I see England!
I think this is a very good compostion. (However!) I would have been tempted to include more of the road on the right of the photo. Also whilst your POV is super maybe you could have made more use of the road curb on the hill to make it look more like a continuation of the road starting at the bottome of the photograph. That would have added more depth to the photo.
I hope you do not mind me "chriticising" your shot!
All in all this photo is about mood and it delivers it perfectly.
Regards
Aleks

Hi John,
Very good shot, i like colors and athmosphere of that place. Sharp front, and mist on the back look great and quality is very good (i know RAW+5DII). Just POV, the route on the right looks good if would be wider...that turning route wolud be fine...
ps. I agree with coment to my last shot Kylesku Bridge
Have a nice evening
