The weather in Scotland is so depressing just now that I simply have to try to cheer myself up by looking at some images of summer!
This is beautiful Umbria, a picture taken from our accommodation at the wonderful and highly recommended "agriturismo", Tenuta Pizzogallo, just a few miles south of Amelia. Here we are looking eastward across fields, vineyards and olive groves to the central Apennine mountains.

Hello John ,
What a splendid countryside ! The luminous and fresh greenery is very attractive . For a mediterranean country , the landscape is very green is this moddle of summer . I suppose that this region benefits of heavy strmy rainfalls during this season : we can see here huge clouds above the mountains in the BG .

I know exactly what you are writing about, although we had a sunny Saturday but so windy... I have mixed feelings watching TE though. On one hand it is great to see places which I won't be able to see by myself at least in the photos, on another hand it is sad to realize that I cannot visit these places. Recently the second feeling took over and being on TE contributes to my depression. It is not only due to the weather but plenty of other factors like the finances etc
It is a beautiful photograph with so many shades of green. Well composed with some vegetation in the foreground and nicely topped up with the interesting clouds.

Magnifique photo de ce très beau paysage d'Umbria. La lumière est très belle et les nuages dans le ciel sont splendides.

Hi John, Funny is the similarity of the names - it could be Cumbria as well. Fabulous view of the hills. Fantastic regular rows of olive trees and so beautiful fluffy clouds above. beautiful this old tree in the corner. Splendid photo to cheer up in a gloomy day.

The weather in the south is at last improving with some sunny days although still high water levels.
Umbria is a very beautiful region of Italy, and I seem to remember good food as well! The patterns in the landscape are shown very well here and there is delightful light. Very sharp and well exposed. Your picture reminds me that I would love to revisit this area so TFS.
Kind Regards, Ann

Oh, I do understand your mood.
I haven't taken a single shot this year!
I keep visiting and revisiting my archives.
I particularly like your inclusion of the f/g vegetation, its variation in shapes and tones makes a wonderfully textured and interesting f/g. It creates a strong contrast with the smoothness of the valley and then is balanced by the trees and hills in the b/g. It is a bonus that you have been able to include a few characteristic Italian houses. They make focal points and help to move out attention across the frame..
Have a great week,

I do like the tones of green and blue as well as the range of crops in the fields,as usual it is well composed and pin sharp from front to back even at f5.6,it`s a lovely reminder of warmer Summer days.
Kind regards Les.

What a sight. The lush green fields, the soft puffy clouds, the beautiful tones of blue in the distance, and the variety of greens. This looks like a slice of heaven on earth. I really like the framing you chose for this too. This is a perfect one of a kind moment of a very special place, thanks for sharing it.
All the best

bella foto luminosa e con grande profondità, è piacevole vedere le differenze di coltivazione che ci sono, cambiano i colori e mettono in evidenza i movimenti del terreno.

This view must be exactly like a painter would like to have his motive, many different colours so he or she could use all parts of the palette. The composition is perfect, with the trees in the foreground and impressive clouds as backdrop. Interesting note as well, I feel tempted to a new holiday at an Italian agriturismo again.

This is beautiful landscape in this region of Italy you have captured so well.
We have many things we can view indicative of this place, Olive trees and groves, great villas, and super landscape and mountains. Just need the Wine, expect if we turned around we might see a glass or two he he.
Wonderful place, also had a look at your link of the B'B, looks super.

Very nice capture of this beautiful landscape in Umbria. Good pov and layot; very good light management !
My favorite in your compo is the olive tree at right corner ! I have allways a sympathy to those wonderfull creatures of the natüre.
TFS and best regards

Now this is just the type of Umbrian landscape I hope to see in May, John. Rolling hills and a variety of crops all give the image texture and colour contrasts. I do like the FG with the gnarled old olive tree bending into the frame. Stay happy... spring is round the corner! Warm regards rosemary

With all of the history, culture and famous landmarks that abound throughout, this is the essence of Italy in my mind...in fact, much of Europe for that matter! :) I could gaze at this scenic landscape for hours on end, just give me a chair and some eventual shade for a nap along the way.
Such a rich array of greens and yellows, gently rolling into the distance with patterned fields and an air of relaxation that's irresistible. Lovely bright sunshine to enhance everything in detail, which highlights the big accumulation of clouds for added effect. I can fully appreciate why this would be incredibly appealing right now, a stark contrast from your winter season, yeah? :)
In a word, albeit cliche...beautiful! Soak it all in, ahhhhhh!
Have a great one. Take it easy.
Cheers from the States,

I'm sorry that the weather is getting to you, hopefully Spring is just around the corner. And you've done what I always do when the weather prevents me from getting out and about, and that's reminisce about my old Italy photos. A commanding view, flawless Rule of Thirds framing and wonderful, vibrant colours. The patchwork of colour is really unforgettable. I hope you get to return to the Home of our Silvio one day soon.
PS: I did indeed get your email and as it's a long un, I'll take my time over the weekend to respond. It gave me a great laugh :D

Ciao e buona giornata

You have captured the beautiful scenery. I could sit on the hill for hours and just admire the view and relax. Photo is amazing sharp all the way from FG to BG, and colors are good. Mountains are mysterious blue and clouds look great in blue and white colors. Depth is very visible and I suppose the mountains are pretty far away.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful shot.
Have a nice weekend.
Best wishes, Kaisa
