Spoleto - Proud of Our Lady of Loreto
Once took place in Spoleto high, in the neighborhood "Borgo San Matteo", better known as "Borgaccio," now, for security reasons has been moved based in part of the city and has lost a large part of its charm.
Also called "onions" because of the picturesque wreaths sold in the stretch of the inner walls next to the Porta San Matteo, the fair is the traditional occasion to meet the people of the county town.
Granted in 1598 by Pope Clement VIII, originally took place on April 21 and enjoyed for eight days of special exemptions and immunities for all, except for bandits and rebels.
In 1664 it was moved to June 13, the feast of St. Anthony of Padua, while keeping all privileges. From indefinable era takes place on 8 and 9 September, on the occasion of the Nativity of the Virgin.
