Photographer's Note

The church of San Brizio is situated in the village of the town of Spoleto.
Just as the church of San Sabino and the church of St. John of Panaria, is linked to the fascinating legends of early Christianity and Spoleto, Umbria. San Brizio, from Syria, came to Spoleto to preach the Gospel, was imprisoned here and then died.
According to tradition, the saint was buried in the Roman sarcophagus in the crypt guarded.
As quickly spread the veneration of the tomb, between the ninth and tenth centuries, they built the first church of which today remains a pillar implementation within the crypt.
The present building dates from the first half of the twelfth century.
The original facade remains the elegant central mullioned window. The interior has three naves divided by columns and pillars, some are re-use of materials from Roman buildings. The chancel is divided from the nave by an imposing triumphal arch.
The crypt four aisles reflects the pattern of the crypts of St. Pontian and San Gregorio Maggiore in Spoleto.

una bellissima composizione che accentua la bellezza dell' antica chiesa e del campo dei splendidi girasoli. C'`e ottima profondit`a e chiarezza, colori vivaci e meravigliosi. Hi Silvio,
A great use of colors and light. The deep depth of field is perfect. A well presented crop allows eyes to remain fixed on the beautiful sunflowers and the cathedral. This is a really excellent photo, and is a good example of good combination of nature and architectural photography. The great light on the cathedral and the blue sky color in the background also lends a lovely contrast to the scene. Well done.

this is a wonderful picture. the bright vivid colours are superb and create a lovely warm atmosphere. the sunflowers look wonderful and the positioning of them leads nicely onto the church tower.

è proprio il momento dei girasoli, anche qui è yuyyo pieno, si tratta di trovare l'ispirazione giusta.
Tu l'hai trovata, ho un solo dubbio, sono i girasoli che accentuano la bellezza della chiesa, o è la chiesa che accentua la bellezza dei girasoli? Mah.....

Ormai, anche con un caldo atroce giro per vicoli e quartiere spagnolo.
Mi accorgo che Castello è una grande miniera , come la tua Spoleto.
Belli i girasole, e interessante la nota....nella Domenica ..in cui nessuno ascolta, ma un profeta c'è.
Pochi guardano i nostri lavori con "amore" ...e riconoscono almeno la fatica.
San Brizio fu un esempio di martirio per aver predicato il Vangelo.

Wonderful warm cold colour contrasts between the fg yellow sunflowers & the bg blue sky. Good sharpness & the bg church makes a fine focal point. Excellent density & framing. The harsh direct sunlight has been well managed with no oe anywhere. Tfs!

what is there not to love about sunflowers? here you have shown them with your beautiful church in the background.I like you low pov as this gives us a view of both the sunflowers and their foliage but also the church spire. You have found a lovely, buttery light. (I envy you your summertime as here in Scotland it has een wet and today even cold).

Love this composition sunflowers and a church in the background. I just came back from Italy. I was in Tuscany. Tuscany is beautiful the landscapes and the cities, villages. I uploaded some pictures on my website. Next time I will go to Umbria.
