Photographer's Note

Schioppo is a delightful village in the Nera Valley, located 475 meters above sea level, near the path that connected to Spoleto and Monteleone Ceselli through Castelmonte, behind a rock, which bears the name "rock" (lat. Scopulus ).
The settlement, clustered around the parish church, is dominated by a large tower house with tower, which formerly was probably watching and defense functions. At the town was active until the end of the century. XIX a "valchiera" that exploited a rich source of water and was also used by neighbors for washing and dyeing fabrics.
From the administrative point of view depended Schioppo Ceselli Castle, which has always followed the fortunes, until the union with the City of Scheggino. The church of S. Nicola reveals its origins in the Romanesque lancet window in the belfry and the portal reassembled in the apse wall when, in the radical restructuring of the century. XVI has changed the orientation of the church.
The interior has a nave covered with trusses, houses a fine sixteenth-century paintings and the remains of the previous century decoration. XV. Fourteenth century the church depended on plebanate of Civitella.
Until 2006 only two residents living in the country, mother and son, Giuseppa Rossi 95 years and her daughter Mary.
