The church was built around 1231 by Master Philip, mostly with materials taken based on previous constructions .. The façade, preceded by a small wooded area , is characterized by a rose window and a portal with a double ring to finely carved recesses . Tax arch capitals carved with the image of the Pope by Master Philip in 1231. The interior has a single nave , has the raised presbytery with a ciborium reconstruction . continua la tua opera di divulgazione delle bellezze dell'Umbria.
Ciao e buona domenica

A fine symmetrical composition featuring this ancient basilica apparently sandwiched between two houses. I like the agreeable harmonious palette and the excelelnt rendering of the textural detail in the stonework.

Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona giornata,

Good choice of vertical format to present the view of this beautiful church. Like the way it is squeezed between these 2 houses. The floral design on the facade and the door with the arch are attractive architectural elements. Nice photo with good light and clarity. Thanks for sharing.

Ciao Silvio ,
A simple , but nevertheless intersting , little church , curiously situated between two houses . Good choice of the symetry .

Silvio, thanks for this nica photo. A typical Romanesque church with beautiful portal, more beautiful rosette and two great small biforas (double windows). I really love the Romanesque architecture and I'm really glad that I saw this church unknown to me. Thanks for the detailed notes.
However, two minor objections: The composition is not so good, too much ground in the foreground - frame could be narrower (or in landscape format), and the photo is a little skewed to the left!
have a nice day,

The tight frame is putting the Church in evidence. The point of view is showing the détails and the colours of the St.John the Baptist Church. The good luminosity is enhancing the colours. Have a nice day.

Appealing view of Palatine Basilica, with the large circular window of arches dominating, and the varying brown tone blocks.
And your historical background reveals centuries of change.
