Photographer's Note

Between late May and early July, the plateau of Castelluccio is witnessing an event of particular importance, Flowering. For several weeks the chromatic monotony of the pasture, is broken by a mosaic of colors, with variations in color ranging from yellow to red ocher. Even if the party of "Fiorita" falls in the third and sixth 'last Sunday of June, there is no precise day to enjoy this delightful show. Each year is given to weather conditions throughout the season. The floral species that dye Pian Pian Grande and Lost in this period, are innumerable, walking along the paths we can meet: gentianella, daffodils, violets, poppies, buttercups, daffodils, purple eugeniae, clovers, Shamrocks and much more.

You're right , it looks like a green velvet carpet . A simple but effective composition . I like the clarity and contrast with the blue sky . Some little clouds are an interesting bonus .

Hello Valter - My neighbour today and we both talk about flowers. The pretty light across the landscape reveals every dip and hummock and every subtle change in colour and tone. The clusters of deep green tress look 3-dimensional they are so well managed. A simple and lovely landscape shot. Warm regards rosemary

A clear and vivid capture of the landscape - so very typical of the central regions of rural Italy... Yes, the greenery envelopes the undulating land like a carpet. The patches of tres in bottle green is a contrast that has been well captured.
The blue sky and the silvery clouds adds to the beauty and vibrance of the photograph.

Ciao caro Valter,

Lisa (delpeoples) always tells me that Castelluccio must have the most beautiful countryside in Italy and your pictures of this area certainly help to convince me of it.

Just as you say in your note, this does indeed look like a "green carpet" and the lovely light shows it off to best effect against a beautiful clear blue sky with just a few little fluffy white clouds.

Your composition is excellent, the colours vibrant but true, the exposure perfect and the details and sharpness exquisite.

And an interetsing note too!

this is certainly one of those wow photos.
The only thing i may change is to eliminate the very top left portion of the white, it seems to interfere a little bit - but perhaps thats a personal choice thing.

what an amazing scenery. extremely dramatic, extremely green and unique. and you're right, it does look like a green carpet!
