Photographer's Note

Castellucio – the island located in the heart of Sibylline Mountains on the plateau Piano Grande, old, scattering the town. Wandering through the plateau still see them under different angles, different lighting, always eye-catching.

Castelluccio di Norcia is one of those tiny towns, so many in Italy that the inconspicuous appearance, reckless hidden treasures. Treasury Castelluccio is the nature that surrounds it. The town stands alone on a hill, from which towers over the surrounding countryside. You can see that in the village there are currently few inhabitants: the houses are old and abandoned. Time also marked the streets. Permanent residents are, as is common in many isolated villages, the elderly, because young people from here, they left in search of a better life.

At the foot of Castelluccio have a huge, stretching for several kilometers, plain surrounded by mountains. It is grown mainly on lentils (which Castelluccio is known in Italy, and you can buy directly from the farmers), and the rest of the land is covered by pastures with grazing horses and sheep. It is here that repeats itself each year a true miracle of life, which is best seen from Castelluccio. Between the end of May and first days of July, this huge and green plane begins to transform. Monotonous green replaces thousand - color mosaic of red, purple, yellow ... flowers - daffodils, violets, buttercups - create a breathtaking spectacle. It is difficult to say when flowering culminates, as it all depends on the weather conditions. However, if you come to Castelluccio in the third and last Sunday of June, you can combine your visit with the feast of "Fiorita".
