San Gusme' an alley, a photo from Siena, Tuscany

Photographer's Note

Situated 465 meters s.l.m. in a magnificent location in the center of villas, palaces and castles of Chianti, San Gusmè is a fortified village dating from the fourteenth century. It features a compact, roughly circular in shape and surrounded by walls enclosing a set of highly evocative buildings, arched door and surmounted by crests.
The original name of the country was St. Cosmas and Damian, to whom is dedicated the church already documented in 1023. A second church, dedicated to SS. Annunziata, dating from the fourteenth century, and 'placed in other buildings.
Nearby are the eighteenth-century villa Arceno, with its big romantic park open to the public from dawn to dusk, Cetamura, an ancient Etruscan settlement at the headwaters of the river and Ombrone from the twelfth century, the fortified headquarters of the Siena defensive line, and Sestaccia, another important fortification which still exist the remains of a square tower and once a bastion to defend the door.

very charming questa stradina con i vasi di fiori messi un po' dappertutto ... spero non ci passino le macchine!

It looks like you had some "competition", taking photos of the same place. This small corner look very beaultiful. The contrast of the bricks and the colorful flowers is great !

personalmente preferisco questa foto a quella di ieri. il vicoletto ricco di dettagli rende meglio l'idea del borgo medioevale appenninico...e poi - chissà perché - io sti vicoli li collego ad una sinfonia di profumi di buona cucina locale...

quello che più mi colpisce oltre la ragazza che fotografa è la nitidezza dell'immagine, la luce non doveva essere al massimo ma sei riuscito a tirar fuori il meglio dalla situazione.
