For the final two hours of the day the fields between Pienza and San Quirico d'Orcia seem to be made of gold, or golden light. I've never seen light quite like it. I don't know what it is. All I know is that it was heavenly, and that if you have a little patience and a halfway decent eye for composition, it's impossible for a photographer to leave empty-handed.
We visited Pienza from about 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The tour buses had left and we largely had it to ourselves--and the light was amazing. It was one of my favorite spots in Italy.

Hello Clark - Your photograph bears testimony to the light you speak of in your note, it is magnificent. I love the way it paints the landscape, highlighting the soft undulations with warmth. A super shot, lovely textures and colour shifts across 3 distinct layers. Warm regards rosemary

thos Tuscany pictures are always gorgeous and yours is no exception to that rule. Marvellous light indeed and wavy hills rolling in the distance. As a sidenote, I might have put the house a little lower in teh frame to allow more breathing space on top...still a very successful shot.
