The Ponte Vecchio Photo

Photographer’s Note

Here is the first of my Italian pictures.

I thought I would start with one of my favourite city's, Florence. This was my first time in Florence, but I will always have good memories of it, including great weather and great food!

Here is The Ponte Vecchio, a old bridge with cool shops on it. I don't really know a lot about it but I know it is really worth a visit.

Please let me know what you think of the picture or where I can improve.

Hello Blair,
Your picture is like a painting. Adding a perfect reflection like a miror, you can turn the picture of 180°..
Really good.
Perhaps, you can use a polarized filter to improve the real sky...

Hi Blair,
nice to have you back! I see you brought a great one home with you, this one is a nice one to start your Italy images. Florence, yes, a wodnerful city! I remember walking thorugh the streets of this city, unfortunetly through very untypical Italian rain. I wish I had a DSLR back then. Your image is really nice, the POV well chosen, the reflections is what I like best, everything is completly reflecting in the water. Colors, sharpness top! The only minor thing is the crane at the left, would have cloned that out, but hey, that`s really a minor thing and I first saw it at the second time. A wonderful Blair, I love it!

PS. I see you got yourself a 40D, good decission! I know this camera because my brother owns one, it`s great, especially the rapid fire, how did yu like that, 6 images a second? You gotta love that sound!

A classic shot of this famous bridge. The reflection is perfect.
Lovely colours and a beautiful cloud formation as well, you were blessed with the weather.

A very classic pov with a famous and also classic bridge. Bit warm on the colour toning on the buildings, but maybe you were in a warm romantic mood in this beautiful city ;-)
I like your symmetry and the reflection, a perfect mirror to present it like this, i like that part a lot...!!!

The picture is fantastic Blair. You could truly turn it 180 degrees and see the exact image. beautiful reflection and the fact that you caught the water very still is impressive. What time did you take the photo?

This seems like a very unique place.
I love photos that include reflections
on the water--that mirrow effect is very pretty.
Needless to say this image along with all its
elements is gorgeous.
I'd like to visit Florence one day.

Hello Blair,
A superb image of this famous bridge, and excellent reflections captured in the water. You managed to capture intersting cloud formations, which to me add important interest in the sky. The colours seem a little dark overall, so maybe a bit of lightening with post processing would enhance the impact overall. Anyway, that's just my opinion....an axcellent photo all the same. Well done.

Hello Blair,

Your photo is very good, but maybe a little bit too dark.
You played very well with the many reflections on the river : the bridge, the houses, this wonderful sky and its clouds. So the composition of your picture is perfect.

This is an interesting composition with good symmetry!
The angle of light adds life to the scene, leaving the one bank in the shade...
Sharp fine details, and the colours are well reproduced!

That's a very good one taken in this well-known and famous place!
"Firenze" is beautiful all the way! You have managed to get it even nicer with this reflection on the waters of the Arno River, with the right amount of light, great colors, pov and compo!

oh, the Ponte Veccio. As the Americans say, BTDT (been there, done that) and what wonderful memories I have. But I never got a photo like this one... The reflections are tremendous and the colors are perfect! Sharp and a great pov.
