It was hot when I was in Florence. Really hot. Around 40c at midday and hotter in the sun. I liked Florence a lot. Small, compact, easy to get around in, yet with something fascinating or interesting and worth photographing, at almost every turn. This is the main 'Duomo' or THE main piazza square (Often there are many) and the magnificent Cathedral. Wikipedia describes it thus "The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore (English: Basilica of Saint Mary of the Flower) is the main church of Florence, Italy. Il Duomo di Firenze, as it is ordinarily called, was begun in 1296 in the Gothic style to the design of Arnolfo di Cambio and completed structurally in 1436 with the dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi. The exterior of the basilica is faced with polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and pink bordered by white and has an elaborate 19th-century Gothic Revival façade by Emilio De Fabris.
The cathedral complex, located in Piazza del Duomo, includes the Baptistery and Giotto's Campanile. The three buildings are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the historic centre of Florence and are a major attraction to tourists visiting the region of Tuscany. The basilica is one of Italy's largest churches, and until development of new structural materials in the modern era, the dome was the largest in the world. It remains the largest brick dome ever constructed.
The cathedral is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Florence, whose archbishop is currently Giuseppe Betori."

Spectacular architecture. I like the perfect contrast with the blue sky. Well taken.
PS. I think you've chosen the wrong location ?

The presence of the people has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing with precision the details and colors of the architecture of the Florence cathedral. The good luminosity is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

A splendid capture of this magnificent cathedral. The heat is quite palpable. I like the point of view and the presence of the people who give the image scale. Superb rendering of the detail in the architecture. There does indeed appear to be a problem with the location as Daniel says.

We spent some happy days here, a few years ago, when my son got married near Siena.
This really is a spectacular building but to me, a bit of a disappointment internally!
You have clearly captured the wonderful dome and the exciting details of the supporting walls. It all shows up so well against the rich, blue sky.
My warm regards,

Ciao e buona serata

Excellent shot of this overwhelming cathedral!
The wonderful architecture of the facade and the red tiled domes are nicely demonstrated. The deep blue sky is the perfect backdrop to make the cathedral stand out even more.
Best regards, Paul

Un bon cliché de cette architecture assez extraordinaire qui ressort de belle manière sur un beau ciel bleu.
Bravo et bonne soirée.

On viewing the thumbnail I thought I was looking at a grossly over sharpened image. Looking at the main image that clearly is not the case. The level of detail in the building and the sharp (natural) contrast between the panels is incredible. The people standing close to the Cathedral certainly help to show the massive scale of the place.

What an impressive sight Chris. The architecture and fine detailing is truly amazing and I marvel at the craft of the masons who applies the marble panels. The sun beats down but its strong light has revealed the contrasts in the facade to advantage showing the detail in a graphic and easy to read way. Super! Warm regards rosemary

I have only spent time at the train station in Firenze. I love that intricate facade, the deep blue sky is to dye for! The fellow with the yellow shorts provides a nice contrast to the grey surface.

a fascinating point of view to this much loved and photographed architectural masterpiece. I like very much how you've arranged the dynamic perspectives upwards and to the background. The dome emerges in a very impressive and imposing way. You've achieved outstanding sharpness and a fantastic graphism, you've made the strong light your ally for a very eye-catching and gorgeous photo. The people are interesting, their dispersion and movement offer balance and scale. A very vivid and irresistible impression, congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a good night,
