Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
This is my second shot about 'Memories of Italy'. It shows the Arno River, flowing through Florence, with the beautiful, Italian buildings reflected in its water.
This was one of my first impressions of Florence, as I alighted from the bus. You can imagine the impact it created; it was overpoweringly beautiful even without the statues, the fountains or the gardens. Florence had so much to offer!
The view is taken very close to the Ponte Vecchio, which, if I remember correctly, was just a little further up the river to the right.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing my memories.
Have a lovely day, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
This is really a most impressive scene to be greeted with on arriving in Florence. Perfectly framed with the river placed on the diagonal. Lovely colours and reflections and superb detail. Excellent photo work. Thanks for sharing.
Regarding Wayfarers Arcade, I was doing some work in Liverpool at the time and staying in a hotel in Southport, at the end of Lord Street in fact, I think it was called The Stanley. Anyway, this was taken during the week early in the morning before any shoppers were about apart from the lady you see. They were amongst my first shots taken on slide film. Thanks for asking and have a good week.

Morning Bev
Lovely reflection and colours here. Sharp and well exposed image.
I was only yesterday looking at photos of myself as a young man sitting on the Ponte Vecchio which I think isn't too far form where you shot this?

Hello Bev,
As I sit here with the wind and rain battering on the window, your photographs from sunny Italy are a delight! Let's have some more.
And what a sight to greet you as you arrived in Florence - wonderful stately buildings reflected in the calm waters of the Arno.
Lots of your favourite triangles here and excellent perspective too. Lovely colours, fine soft light and stunning details and sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Bonjour Beverly
J'ai eu la chance de visiter Florence à plusieurs occasions et je trouve que c'est une des plus belles villes d'Europe, surtout sur les rives du fleuve.J'aime beaucoup la diagonale dans l'image qui apporte de la profondeur.

Hi Beverly,
As impressive and beautiful as Ponte Vecchio is to Florence it sure is nice to see a different view along the Arno, this is a gorgeous look at the riverfront. The composition that captures this reflection is sublime and the colors are so rich, even as mostly neutral!? This is quite an eye-catching photo, thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Jason

As you may recall, Beverly, you were strolling same place along the Arno only one day ahead of us.
And what a beautiful clear day you had: reflection and colors well shown on the picture.

Hello Dear Beverley,
This is an excellent, and unusual view of Florence. You've posted a number of shots I hadn't seen before. But Florence will take precedence over anything else for me. As I read your note, I remembered Churchill's immortal words about the Americans, "We have everything common with them, accept the language." In the United States, few would recognize the phrase, "... alighted from the bus." I remember that great radio show, "My Word" on BBC. One of the characters making comments about literalists, "Alight from both ends. Wouldn't that be difficult to smoke?" and another literalist who gets arrested when he reads, "Fine for spiting." (He spits and gets arrested!)
Warm regards, Beverley,
Bulent

Hello Beverley,
What an exceptionally sharp crystal clear image with a beautiful reflection and a diagonal line of embankment! Great POV and perfect light management! The chairs on the lawn with flowers make the scene look even more inviting and cozy.
Best wishes!
