Photographer’s Note

I remember the eighties like very bad years for cinemas, I remember 'XXX' movies in a lot of places, and just a few 'normal' ones, then the crisis passed, and now we are in a period where a lot of 'multiplex' are slowly replacing beautiful downtown cinemas, and it's a pity, anyway.
This abandoned one was a jump in the past, memory of a different world... and think it's a few meters from Ponte Vecchio.....

Ciao Giorgio,una foto che mi fa riflettere molto e mi ha fatto sentire vecchio improvvisamente.Uno dei simboli della nostra giovinezza abbandonato a se stesso,il suo destino se n'e' andato con l'arrivo del vhs e dei dvd,lo proporrei all'UNESCO come monumento da salvaguardare....in fondo a Firenze ce ne sono tanti tutti della stessa epoca....meglio aggiungere qualcosa di moderno.La foto e' storta comme d'habitude ma oramai sta diventando una sorta di firma occulta..ehehe...buon weekend e grazie per aver affrontato questo tema.Luciano

a nice shot of rather nostalgic movie theater.
yes, like there, in Japan, common cinema theaters are decreasing and decreasing...now there are lots of cinema-complexes.
it is very pity, I love small theaters in small towns, but those are almost closed.
but new generations are already starting to make new new new cinemas indeed. I prefer unknown directors to big names. I can find excellent works in those indeed.
anyway, this theater and your shot are precious.

i vecchi cinematografi di provincia...cadreghe di legno su cui le chiappe diventavano romboidali....mentre ora...solo multiplex multiparcheggio multigadget a prezzo stratosferico.....

bah...preferivo la versione amarcord.

Bien dommage en effet, ici près de chez moi il y en avait un , c'était chaleureux et l'ambiance accueillante, depuis il a fait place a un supermarché..
