The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Donato is placed on the top of the hill where the city was built on the site of an early Christian church, and perhaps the place where once stood the acropolis town.
The construction has taken place since 1278, has had different phases, ended only in 1511. The façade was built between 1901 and 1914, replacing the previous, unfinished, of the fifteenth century.
The imposing Gothic interior is rich in works of art, including the main La Maddalena by Piero della Francesca, built between 1460 and 1466, where an experimental use of an innovative light gives vitality and strength to the plastic figure, depicted as if you were ushering from a bow.

Ottimo taglio e splendida composizione.

A very well composed photo with a fine greyscale and superbly handled light. Your POV gives us a very good view of the fine architectural elements and I like the inclusion of a few persons.

This is a very fine capture of this cathedral interior. Precisely framed and making good use of the vertical format. I like the use of black and white, an unusual choice for an interior, but it suits the mood perfectly here. The image is well exposed and has a good range of tones and excellent sharpness.

Silvio pretty good, little objection to the composition: too much of the floor and the top of the arch is cut off!
The light is great, excellent POV!

interior of cathedral is nice and interesting here. Good vertical format. Pity that it's in B&W. I like the organs and pulpit. Fine shadows and light. Well done photo.
Have a nice evening.

I truly like this one! The choice of POV and vertical format make this scene more interesting and the whole composition which includes some people seems to be well thought trough. The contrast has been well given as so has been the sharpness.
Thanks for sharing

Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona serata,

Ciao caro Silvio,
I love photographs of church and cathedral interiors and this black and white picture is wonderful and complements your interesting note perfectly.
Again, your composition here is superb, all lines leading the eye from the foreground into the depths of the image - the lines of the floor tiles, the curvature of the ballustrade on the left, the seating, the shiny vertical organ pipes and so on.
Lovely light, tones, contrasts and textures, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

Good shot of this catedral! You managed the difficult light very well and I like it in b&w. The people in the aisle also give life to the place.
