Sansepolcro is a town of over 16,300 inhabitants in the province of Arezzo, in Tuscany , at the border with Umbria and Marche.
Free Tuscan town first and then the cradle of Renaissance culture gave birth to famous historical figures such as Piero della Francesca , Luca Pacioli , Cherubino Alberti and Matteo di Giovanni .
It is the most populous town and the administrative center of the Tuscan Tiber Valley , though belonging geographically to the umbra from 1441 is administratively part of Tuscany.
Founded in the tenth century , according to tradition by Arcano and Egidio , two pilgrims returning from the Holy Land , who founded a monastic community.
The municipal courts are documented since 1163 ,
In 1301 Borgo Sansepolcro passes under the dominion of Uguccione Faggiuola and , twenty years later , Guido Tarlati . From 1335 to 1351 there was a period of submission to Perugia , 1351-1358 Sansepolcro occupy the Visconti of Milan. Over the next decade Sansepolcro submit to Città di Castello. Then back to be part of the papal dominions , to then be given in 1370 to the Malatesta of Rimini. At the end of the fifteenth century it became a fief of different leaders : Fortinbras said Niccolò Piccinino and, subsequently, Bartolomeo d' Alviano and again for a short time Niccolò Fortinbras. During the Battle of Anghiari , fought June 29, 1440 , 2,000 men of Sansepolcro join the army to fight against the league Piccinino Florentine - papal . In 1441 , defeated Piccinino , Sansepolcro was pledged in Florence.
In the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries the city's economy is particularly thriving thanks to the cultivation of woad plant used in dyeing of fabrics and marketed in the nearby Adriatic ports .
Significant intervention conducted in the 50s on the walls of the sixteenth century on the initiative of Cosimo I de 'Medici , who wanted to fortify the border of the Florentine state in view of the war against Siena to avoid the expense of expanding the walls in 1555 were culled the hamlets outside , causing considerable damage to the city planning . During the sixteenth Sansepolcro , elevated to bishop by Pope Leo X in 1520 and awarded the title of "city" , knows a moment of remarkable artistic flowering , thanks to the openings to Rome (the family of the Alberti ) and the nearby areas of ' Umbria ( with painters Cristoforo Gherardi and Raffaellino from the Hill ) and Marche (still with the very active Raffaellino from the Hill ) . Moreover, the fact that the territory of the new diocese also includes the Val di Bagno, in Romagna, helps to create deep social and cultural relationships with the area, within which Sansepolcro , again for all the XVI century , stands as a crossroads and economic and cultural meeting place . In this period the city is visited by various personalities : Pope Clement VII in 1525 and in 1532 and the Grand Dukes of Tuscany Ferdinando I and Cosimo II , respectively in 1593 and in 1612
Remains the domain of Medici, in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, then passed to the Lorena Augsburg , until the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy ( 17 March 1861 ).

This is a nice view where the yellow balloons are almost as important to the composition as the palace in the background. It actually seems that nobody pays any attention to the palace because there is so much else going on. The colours are fine and you have handled the evening light very well.

la bella piazza è più animata del solito e la presenza dei tanti palloncini gialli aumenta l'allegria delle persone e del...fotografo.

Hello, excellent colors and nice lines from the building. This image presents us with a wonderful view of daily life in a Tuscan town from the street worker conversing to the child riding his bike to the man with the stroller

Yet another town new to my knowledge, fine document about.
There must had been some fair or a festival going on there as I see children with yellow bloons and thre ambulances park in a "ready" mode in front of the main building in picture.
Nice wide view of the piazza, vibrant with people moving around.

Beauté du bâtiment tout en longueur, les détails des fenêtres et de l'entrée, j'aime l'ambiance qui règne sur la place, avec les ballons jaunes, belle présentation

A colourful old city square and presence of people in this kind of shot is always vital as shown. What a lovely view, full of live, the pov and perspective add so much interests with the significant building in the backdrop. Credit to your skill in achieving a good balance exposure. Awesome and lively shot, Congrats and tfs.

To me it is the yellow balloons that really make this picture work . They creata a nice touch of color in this otherwise rather monochrome suroundings.
have a great day

Missed this one. A superb daily life shot of the people in the piazza as well as a good shot of the bg architecture. Good sharpness and excellent framing and composition. But why are the ambulance signs all back to front as if mirrored? Intriguing! The yellow red color of the building contrasts well against the blue sky. Tfs!

The presence of the people has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the building. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Complimenti e grazie!
tanti saluti e buona serata,
