Photographer’s Note
I took that image the last Saturday, at Marciana Marina, one of the many villages of the Isola d'Elba, in front of Tuscanian coastline.
It was sunset time, i had sun at my back, and very far away there are some small group of girls and boys that were sitted on the rocks after the last swimm of the day.
I took the image with the digital zoom at 11X, so the picture have a strong noisy effect and a low quality of pixel.
But the light...i don't know why, the light it remember me a Paul Gauguin paint; the light and the colors, the noisy effect...
In the Workshop i did a small work with PS, a Gauguin Workshop!

Hello Paolo, Thanks for "preventing" all the complaints about grain, etc in your clever notes. The composition and lighting are both striking and yes, Gauguin-like in the extreme. Wouldn't be surprised if Claude were to pay you a visit: he LOVES PG.
I like it! Ciao, Francis

Yes the light is gorgeous, and the woman in the wrapped clothes is very Gauguin.
I want to be there.
Thanks,
Kevin

salut paolo, looks a bit like an oil painting; should there be older boats we would think this is an old sepia photography;
anyway, the warm colours are great, indeed the digital zoom disturbs, but i think it is compensated by the charming atmosphere of this image;
have a nice day, jerzy

What a light Paolo!! This is why I like this shot...The colors are so nice.
That's true that the quality is not optimal though..
Excellent vertical framing.

More than the light itself, it's the attitude of the group of people in the foreground which evokes the most the work of Gauguin after he left Pont-Aven for the south seas. As if the utter meaning of the world was embodied in a few people, as if time didn't matter anymore, as if nothing would end, as if...
I feel a tiny bit of added contrast might help to reinforce the presence of this group of character without distracting the eye from the whole scenery and cropping the boat on the right would benefit the whole composition, but those are only minor details, Paolo.
To end up with a less enthousistic mood, I really think that the your frame, with its washed-out color and bold ugly black border is a total mess. Yuck! ;-)
Excuse too for not writing anything about your workshop. At least, you had some fun with Photoshop...

Very Gaugain-like colors. So warm and frindly. A nice scene as well. Is Gaugain an artist you like?

Ciao Paolo,
The evening light worked here best in warming the colors very nicely, portrqit is well appropriate too, about framing a bit more to the left yould have been better I think. Considering the heat outside, I'd enjoy to be there shooting together with you !
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

You sure treated it like a painting, Paolo, such a great light to work with is certainly inspiring , and your title is spot on, that lady seems straight out of a Paul G. painting. Very good rapport between all plans as well.

Ciao Paolo,
Really it's a pity that you have had to use the digital zomm on this picture, because the color of light and frame are perfect, superb, anyway you have got a fantastic picture.
