Photographer’s Note
The ruins of the 14th century Castel Belfort, on a grassy hill just outside the village of Spormaggiore, makes a great picnic spot as you explore the Italian Alps and the Dolomites. Wander through ancient passageways and gaze through windows at the magnificent views of the Valle di Non. In Spormaggiore, there is also a small "area faunistica" which is home to some very endangered Italian brown bears.
