The Castel Toblino (Toblino Castle) is a rare example of a castle lake. Situated in the valley between Lakes Padergnone and Sarche, it is located in the municipality of Calavino, in the province of Trento north east Italy.

The hotel is perched on a small peninsula bathed and protected from the lakeshore. Its location has obvious reasons of defensive strategy that takes advantage here in the natural conditions of the soil and the presence of the important road junction connecting Trento and the valleys of the Sarca and churches. The square shape of the complex is one of the signs of interest in the great circular tower, certainly the most visible of pre-existing medieval. The large walled battlements surrounding the entire complex and the large park surrounding the residence add an additional distinctive character. Today the castle is privately owned and is used as a restaurant.

Since 1100 the castle was owned by vassals of the Prince-Bishop of Trento. The family of Da Campo took possession in the thirteenth century and the end of the fifteenth century under the influence of returned goods bishops. The past centuries of struggle and conflict between the various noble families of the principality, but it had peaceful years undr Cles and Madruzzo family, the period to which they ascribed the major renovation and transformation.
Stayed here the distinguished guests of the prince bishop, met the papal legates arrived in Trento for the Holy Council and dwelt many wealthy people of the episcopal court.''
during my holidays in this place two years ago i made many times the road near this lake and every time i could not resist to take a picture.

this is very attention grabbing photo and I especially like the proportions you have given to the water and to the green hills. The small castle is placed very neatly in the photo and all the colors are superbly given.

questa foto mi riempie di ricordi, ho fatto il militare a Trento e spesso andavamo a Riva del Garda e passando guardavo questo castello. Poi, quando mi sono sposato, ho ripercorso quelle strade e qui mi sono fermato per guardarlo meglio ed ho fatto degli scatti, tra cui un primo piano a mia moglie con il castello sullo sfondo.
Ma stiamo parlando di mooolti anni fa.
Sono troppo di parte per dirti che è una bella foto, ben inquadrata e ben composta.

A great advert for Italy; the shot is very well composed using the different elements in exact proportions. A fine dof keeps everything accessible to the viewers.

There is a strong shadow on the castle which suggests good light. I wonder how you would feel about increasing the brightness to bring out the colours.
