Photographer's Note

Its origin is made to go back to the 397 a.C, when the fenici inhabitants of Mozia, after the endured defeat to work of the siracusani, sheltered on the Lilibeo cape founding there a city that called Lilibeo exactly and that divenne more hard and l' last bastion of the fenicia power in Sicily. In the 241 to C, after repeated and vain attempts, the Roman succeeded to get hold of, the city divenne roman province, was center of the quaestor and the pretore, remaining over a long time span the more important port dell' island. Such pre-eminent position was maintained for all the Middle Ages, until, in XVI the century, Carl V made to construct the port in order to defend the city from the barbaric onslaughts.
