The Cathedral of Cefalú allows visits from 8 to 12 and of 15:15 to 19:15 h. between week, and Sunday uninterruptedly. It was erected by Roger II in 1131 in gratefulness, according to the legend, to the coasts of Cefalú that allowed him to be saved of the shipwreck that threatened to its boat during a storm.

The facade forms with two immense square towers that confer to this Norman cathedral a strength air. The part superior contains one double series of blind arcs with a large window ojivalen the part immediately inferior, and underneath a porch of three arcs realised in 1471 by Ambrogio of how protecting the porch, rich in detail carved in white marble (finalized in 1204), and almost imperceptible lateral paintings.

Great trasnsepto adorned with pointed arcades unites the three ships with the apse. These three ships separate in the interior by means of 16 columns of marble that support pointed arcs. The continuous reforms initiated in 1932 try to give back to the walls of the temple the majesty of the baroque ornaments complete that it.

The apse of a cathedral of Cefalú reunites one of the complexes of more spectacular Byzantine mosaics of Sicily, with the Pantocrator of the evangelizador Christ characteristic of the Byzantine art, with the wicks on the forehead, cabelo blond Norman, the Arab eyebrows and dark beards, and the fine and straight nose to the Greek style.

Acomparsando it we found to the Virgin with árcángeles and apostles, prophets and saints. In addition in center to the left ship we will find a virgin with the boy of Antonello Gagini of 1533; some neoclassic stuccos, and the silver-plated altar of the Chapel of the Santísimo Sacrament.
