Photographer’s Note

To get from Piazza Duomo to the Cathedral in Cefalù, Sicily, you have to walk up the stairs and through this impressive iron gate flanked by to statues of bishops. The construction of the Cathedral in Cefalù begun in 1131 under the reign of Roger (Ruggero) II but it was not completed until the 14th century. Inside the Cathedral of Cefalù, there is one of the earliest and best-preserved Byzantine mosaics in Sicily.

Hi Ulf, you have excellent sharpness here and a very good POV looking up. I like the cracking stone on the right hand gate post, and the way the railings point to the sky like arrows.

An attractive night time photograph!
I like the point of view resulting in very dynamic lines in the composition...
Great colour and good clarity in details, I'm a bit surprised to see this is f/3.2 as I would expect the background to be more blurry!

Hi Ulf! I really like this combination of black and yellow colors. Also - this photo will be an excellent addition to my favourite theme "Metal Gates", thank you, tak! :) I wish the center gate was seen a little better... but this does not refer to this photo, just my thought in reference to the theme. I went for 5 days to London at the end of January and took a few pictures of beautiful metal gates there. I was not very much satisfied with the quality of pictures though... But I got my photos back from the developing only today, so I'll see!

Very atmospheric this, Ulf! Love the angle, the very fine rendition of the textures and that rusty gate here The framing is spot on - tying together all this graphical power very efficiently.
