Photographer’s Note
I planned to upload this photograph yesterday for my friend L'Assessore’s birthday.
Unfortunately, in my haste I managed to completely mess it up by uploading the wrong image, so belatedly Francesco, a photograph of your beloved Sicily to celebrate your birthday.
I took this many years ago when I was staying in Taormina. It was shot from down by the marina looking back across the bay towards Taormina. I remember the day so well, the weather was beautiful, the temperature was perfect, and the white clouds were just beginning to form on the top of the hills.
There were small fishing boats out on the clear clean water. The one in the centre of the shot had the fishermen sitting together as they motored towards their fishing grounds, I’m guessing they were just enjoying each others company before they started work
I loved my time in Sicily.
I have corrected some of the colour contrast by using Nik Efex.
Happy birthday again my friend, I hope you had a wonderful day.

Hello Peter,
very very lovely view, a very well balanced composition :) I like the inclusion of the rocks in the FG - they "match" nicely those distant mountains and, all together, they create a very good sense of depth :)
Also, a very nice inclusion of a tiny distant boat! it adds life to the picturesque scene.
Warm greetings from frosty Moscow,

Hello Peter,
A fine composition of this lovely scenery. I like the low point of view, which adds depth and allows us to view the lovely clear waters of the bay. The puffy clouds ranged across the mountain tops contribute to the mood. Superb light and colours and very good clarity.

A glorious shot Peter,
I'm afraid that Sicily is still on my list but you don't have to have been there to appreciate this one - your usual great use of the water. Brilliant colour. The hills and the sky are both very effective.
Cheers

Hello Peter,
For now, I am viewing this photo on my old PC with CRT monitor(an old junk), yet this photo still impresses me by its clarity, colours and composition. I must take another look at it later on a LCD. The water looks stunningly clear and beautiful, and I guess you used the CPL to avoid any glittering reflection. The pile of rocks in the FG add excellent depth to this photo. A decisive moment indeed to see the contrasting white clouds hovering over the mountains.
I have never seen Sicily. Are you sure this is not one of those places up north, shot during your recent trip? hahaha...Thanks for posting a wonderful photo, Pete

Carissimo Peter,
che bel regalo, ma soprattutto la cosa più bella è il pensiero che hai avuto nel dedicare una foto della Sicilia a me.
Hai scelto un bel POV. Si vede anche Castelmola e il lungomare di Giardini Naxos.
Grazie mio caro amico.
Francesco L'Assessore
P.S.
Vedo che anche tu mi chiami Assessore :)) Eheheheh! I lik it!

Hi Pietro, I wondered what happened yesterday when trying to access your latest upload it wouldn;t let me. You - belatedly - got it right with this one. That water is incredible as is the depth even at f/4. The colour of that water just makes you want to dive right in and you're forcing me to plan another trip to Italy already. Great work, I'm sure Francesco will enjoy this beautiful birthday present. Luvya, Lisa.

Hi Pete,
Love the textures and varying shades of turquoise and blue to the sea that leads us gently towards the rugged mountainside village.
Beautiful contrasting blue sky backdrop to complete this beautiful harbor scene.

Hello Peter,
I know this exact view. It is very close to where the tenders from ships load and unload passengers to cruise ships anchored off shore. In 1993, the first time I visited Taormina, I misjudged the distance and walked all the way to the ancient city, climbing those endless stairs. Moreover, in June of 2005 I may just have been in port when you were. Great shot, showing the clear water, and Castel Moro in the top part of the image.
Have a good Sunday, Peter.

Hi Peter,
Good shot with Giardini Naxos in front and Taormina up on the hills. Reamarkable green and beautiful two-coloured water. The Etna was to much to the left to include I guess.

Hi Pete,
Lovely shot oozing with a feeling that brings to my mind the 1970s song 'Summer breeze makes me feel fine" (Crosby, Stills & Nash).
Lovely seas, fantastic mountains, georgous sky & clouds. This photograph has a wonderful feel to it.
So much to look at here once you start slowly looking around.
Thanks,

Hi Peter.
Nice photo from Sicily, one of the places I'd very much like to visit in the near future - I've even spent an hour or two sitting in Border's reading the Lonely Planet and other guides. The key to this kind of shot is the foreground interest, adding great depth to the view towards the mountains in the background. Lovely colouring in the water and sky, plus some fluffy clouds, complete the picture. One would never know you used a compact camera. I have Nik Efex myself, and occasionally it can be very useful.
Regards,
Andrew

Hello Peter
Another perfectly composed seascape, so sharp and such clarity, you can almost see the fish swimming around under the water and so much detail in the buildings along the foreshore, the mountains and the clouds.
Superb! Postcard quality
Well done TFS

When I looked at the thumbnail I thought you were kidding labelling it Sicily and thought it was a picture from GBF or something. Nice PoV and very nice exposure.
