Torre di Nora, a photo from Cagliari, Sardegna

Photographer's Note

Torre di Nora-(Lighthouse in Nora)-about 1500 towers were (are) in Sardegna, along the coasts. They built over Saracens domination (from 705-mid 11th century). From each tower You see another one, so Saracens had used it to observation the coasts and comunication with over night light signs, too. That tower was converted for the lighthouse and is still used.

Nora is very intersting place. There is a ruins of Phoenician city, which after Third Punic War was took over by Romans. Another sing is from Middle Age-that tower.

A nicely composed shot, with a well placed horizon and plenty of foreground across the bottom of the picture which enables us to take pleasure in the curve of the shore-line. A marvellous castle, shown in a very good Autumn sunlight.

Hi Bartlomiej - an interesting note to accompany this fine illustrative shot and quite fascinating to read that this look-out tower has been converted into a lighthouse. I like your vantage point which shows a lovely curve of rocky beach which leads to the tower perched on the headland. Lovely shot with excellent colours. Warm regards Rosemary
