Gabiano and its castle Photo

Photographer’s Note

Gabiano is a rural commune in the north-west of the province of Alessandria, some 25 km west of Casale Monferrato. Its current population of some 1,250 has halved since mid 1930s. In addition to the village of Gabiano, the commune includes the localities of Piagera, Sessana, Cantavenna and Varengo. This area straddles the lowland immediately south of the Po and the furthest extension of the Monferrato hills.

The village of Gabiano lies on the southern slopes of a hill dominated by a castle of ancient origins, which was reconstructed in the early twentieth century in the Neo-Gothic style. At the foot of the hill—the original site of the village—is a parish church dedicated to Saint Peter. Although rebuilt in 1690, it retains the twin bell towers from the original medieval building

I like very much the countryside in the province of Alessandria, nice hills with ancient castles and on the other side a wonderful panorama on the river Po and the Monferrato (next post).
And excellents wines...

The italien agriculture stands out. Man and nature in harmony. The straw yellow stripe is the essence next to the green vineyards. Up the slope the village and castle with the high and low trees in fully neat pureness. Warm regards. Domingos

ciao Elena,

non so se ho già visitato prima o meno la tua galleria...in ogni caso benvenuta su TE.
da "cuore campesino" della pianura padana non posso che apprezzare questa immagine. le geometrie del frumento aggiungono profondità e caratterizzano il paesaggio...facendo correre l'occhio dai colori estivi della campagna fino al castello.

PS: ironia della sorte il mio paese si chiamava "borgo gabbiano" e tuttora i suoi abitanti vengono chiamati gabianesi

Ciao Elena,
che bella visuale! Molto nitida e colorata. Il POV e' perfetto per poter apprezzare il pendio della collina e gli edifici sulla sommita'. Mi piace molto l'effetto creato dai filari paralleli delle vigne. Molto brava!

Ciao Elena,
A dreamy view, that reminds immediately Italy, at least for someone like me who never was there (I guess that a couple of stops in Fiumicino airport don't count :-).
You did a wonderful compo, wisely placing the castel on one of the golden points. The colours and seem a little bit unnatural and the same goes for the "halo" on the horizon, but it looks appropriate to the subject, enhancing a certain air of naive painting.

Magnifique photo, pleine de couleurs et de belles lignes. Je cropperais juste un peu du ciel, pour avoir de meilleures proportions pour la règle des tiers. Bravo!

I saw your profile picture at Judy's gallery and as I like cats, I had to visit your gallery. Your lovely picture shows that you used the PL filter well, producing strong vibrant colors, in particular the contrast between green and blue, very nice work. I guess it must be a vineyard, which boosts DOF tremendously. Sharpness is fine. Well done
