The Sacro Monte in Varallo (sacred mont in Varallo, Sesia valley) is the oldest and most evocative religious place in north-western Italy (Piedmont region). Bernardino Caini was a friar from Milan, who lived in Palestine for a long time. In XV century for piligrims it was not easy to go to Palestine because of the Turkish-Critian war.
So when Bernardino Caini returned back to Italy, he decided to build in Varallo a new Holy Land. For this reason each chapel's name recalls Jesu's history. Nowadays at Sacro Monte piligrims have the chance to recreate themselves in a natural and enchanting place.
