Santa Maria Maggiore, builded in XL century
Susa is a city in Piedmont, Italy. It is situated on a tributary of the Po River, at the foot of the Cottian Alps, 51 km (32 mi) west of Turin.
Susa (ancient: Segusium) was founded by the Gauls. In the 1st century AD it became freely part of the Roman Empire. Remains of the Roman city have been founded in the excavations of the central Savoy Square.
In the Middle and Modern ages Susa maintained an importance as a hub on the roads connecting southern France to Italy. During the Napoleonic era a new road, the Via Napoleonica, was built. This role has been confirmed until recent times, when a nation-wide dispute arose about the construction of the Turin-Lyon high-speed rail (Treno Alta Velocità|TAV) to France. A popular movement called NO TAV was created in consequence: it has launched several demonstrations, attracting wide media coverage and pushing authorities to momentarily suspend the works.

Hello Silvio,
Good use of the vertical format with the tower well placed in the frame. I like the textural contrasts between the tower and the foreground buildings; also, the pleasing light and shadow contrasts. Very good sharpness.

Hallo Silvio!
You have had a beautiful but difficult light here - and you managed it skillfully. This wunderful steeple with its great architecture really "towers" its surroundings. I also like the contrast in architecture here.

Ciao Silvio,
ho sentito parlare tanto di Susa e della Valle. Ci sono arrivato vicino, ma sono rimasto a Torino perchè ero solo di passaggio e non avevo molto tempo a disposizione.
Parliamo del lontano 1995
Molto bella questa torre. La buona luce del momento e l'ottimo sharp, rendono ben visibili ogni suo più piccolo dettaglo.
Ottime le prospettive.
Mi perdoni egregio signor Silvio, ma io avrei però preferito fotografarla dal lato opposto a dove ti trovavi tu.
Il contrasto architettonico tra la torre e quelle case, non è molto bello per i miei gusti.

bella e particolare questa compo, bella la piccola casetta con i suoi bei carteli di divieto di sosta, il campanile si slancia bene verso il cielo, mi sembra ma non ci giurerei che pende leggermenta a destra, che fai ti adegui......

a wonderful shot of the splendid old stone tower and fore beautiful houses.
its gray old stone wall with elegant arches looks so fine, its feeling is my favorite. the composition of arches is very well designed.
fore modern houses are well combined that old tower, this harmony is cheerful.

This is a great shot of this old architecture. The angle of the scene is great giving the photo a nice sense of depth. The lighting and colors are great with nice areas of sun and shadow.
