Photographer's Note

''The design of the imposing church that overlooks Piazza Caduti per la liberta' is by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, that from Rome, sent the same in Turin to the architect of the Duke of Savoy, Guarino Guarini, who followed thr realization of the church.
Guarini not only realized the project but made some changes to it in order to suit the characteristics of the site.
The structure was built between 1672 and 1687, although the dome and the crowning of the facade are of a later period. The church was built thanks to the contribution of all citizens who were invited to make their offerings available from a series of sermons held at that time by some Jesuits.
The Church has a plan with three naves and chapels deep, and has a characteristic façade adorned with large Corinthian columns. Inside, exquisite workmanship is the altar of St. Sebastian, patron of Bra, which was carried out in 1760 by Giuseppe Antonio Barelli. The altar is located in a high chapel in which is depicted the "Martyrdom of St. Sebastian", painted in 1761 by his court painter Claudio Francesco Beaumont.

S. Andrea houses paintings by Jean Claret, including the famous "Battle of Lepanto" preserved in the sacristy. Fine the altar of the Chapel of the Carmine with the sculptural group depicting the "Madonna gives the scapular to the Blessed Simon", created by the sculptor Roasio of Mondovi.''
