Photographer's Note

The alp Prabello is without a doubt one of the most bucolic corners of Valmalenco. Prabello, that beautiful lawn, never been more appropriate name. Modeled after the ancient icy Bernina Steps and separated from the broader Campagneda from the rocky spur of the "déent" alp is called locally "prabèl" and consists of a group of huts, the cùurt, from the shelter Cristina and a church. The refuge Cristina, called the "Cristina", was built in 1922, at an altitude of 2287 meters, in the splendid setting of the lace Steps, by Ersilio Bricalli, Caspoggio, and was named to his wife. The church (Jesus de prabèl) was built first, in 1919, immediately after the end of the First World War, the parish priest of Caspoggio, Don Giovanni Gatti, and dedicated to Our Lady Queen of Peace, to celebrate, of course, peace restored after the bloody conflict. It is located in a slightly elevated position, to the west of the group of huts, with material transported entirely on the shoulders of Caspoggio (which is about 15 km from here), with a vertical drop of almost m. 1,200.
