[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a detail of a passanger railroad car.
I found this car in the Parco Lambro, a big public park on the east border of the city. It have large areas covered by forest and in one of this there were some meters of rail tracks and over this old railroad car in bad condition, old, really old, maybe of the past beginnings of the XX Century.
In the middle of a park, between the trees...
I don't know why and how it was placed there!

It's a car of Ferrovie Nord Milano, the second biggest operator of the Italian railway network after the National Railways.
The main hub of FNM is the railway station of Milano Cadorna, located in the heart of the city, at 200 meters from the Sforzesco Castle and exactley 1000 meters from Piazza Duomo. It linked with the subway network thanks to the lines 1 and 2 that have both an underground station.

Totally FNM have 400 kms of railways with 123 stations in the Milan Metro Area, and run 365 days in a year over 500 trains for 20 hours per day. More than 250.000 people use FNM everyday.
FNM (today called also Le Nord) runs in the Milano Metro Area; it was founded in the 1877 and today it have 6 Regional lines (that runs in the whole Metro Area, out of 100 kms from the city centre), called "Lines R":

Milano Cadorna - Como (Lakeshore)
Milano Cadorna - Varese
Milano Cadorna - Laveno (Lago Maggiore)
Milano Cadorna - Novara
Milano Cadorna - Erba/Canzo/Asso
Brescia - Lago d'Iseo/Edolo
Milano Cadorna - Malpensa International Airport (also called Malpensa Express)

And 5 suburban lines, that run in the first 2 rings of the conurbation (the first 30 kms from the citycentre) called "Lines S"

S1 Lodi - Milano Porta Vittoria - Saronno
S2 Pavia - Milano Porta Vittoria - Mariano Comense
S3 Milano Cadorna - Saronno
S4 Milano Cadorna - Seveso - Camnago Lentate SS
S10 Milano Rogoredo - Milano Bovisa (urban Crossrail with underground metro like service)

The other 5 "Lines S" are operated by National Railways and by TILO, an Italo-Swiss company that runs from the extreme northern side of Milan Metro Area, Lugano in Canton Ticino, Swiss, to Como and then Milano.

The complete network will be opened between the 2010 and 2012, with a total number of 15 Lines S, five operated by FNM, two by TILO and eight by the National Railways.

I love the colours and graphics here. They are well saturated and contrasted which creates a lovely effect. However I feel that the numbers and letters are too much to the left. I would have prefered these elements centred or with a horizontal frame and them placed to the right.
