Naviglio Grande, a photo from Milan, Lombardia

Photographer's Note

The history of Milan is closely connected with the system of canals, that pass through the whole city. The area characterized by the Navigli is certainly one of the most picturesque of Milan.

The oldest canal Naviglio Grande takes it’s water from the Ticino river. Tha canal was constructed from 1177 to 1257 and is about 50 km long. In the past it was used as transporting way of goods, particularly for the blocks of marble that were used for building the Cathedral.

Typical, old Milan houses, old wash-houses with wooden beamed roofs and craftsmen’s workshops remember on passed times. Today you find boutiques and ateliers of artist of Milan, cafes, restaurants and old moored barges fitted out as bars for meeting the typical atmosphere and the young Milan people.

Hello Giorgio,
Wonderfull capture ; very good pov and very nice light.
Amazing graphism, created with the sun light and artificial light decoration above the street.
I like the light and reflections on the car windows.

ciao giorgio,
non so se tutto il cielo fosse proprio cosi arancione, fatto sta che hai mantenuto una luce vivida e pulita sugli edifici, che insieme alle luminarie, al riflesso del canale e ai vetri delle macchine riprende il filo cromatico del cielo, creando una bella atmosfera dai colori molto ben assortuti.

Ancora torni sui navigli .
La nota è molto esaustiva e fa riflettere chi ha vissuto a Milano ...ma anche dovrebbe far riflettere i milanesi.
Prima Brera un vero quartiere latino, via dei fiori chiari , via dei fiori scuri ....adesso pribitiva ai non abbienti dove una minestra costava £ 300.
Poi i navigli ..classe operaia ...adesso ...bivacco di giovani festanti .
Meglio a quest'ora ed in foto di ottima fattura .

Molto orginale e molto picaevole immagine con bei e incredibile colori nel cielo e bei riflessi anche nel fiume. Le macchine sulla sinsitra danno ritma all immagine.

Stupendo questo tramonto sul naviglio, di gran effetto il cielo, anche se appare un pò innaturale suprattutto sulla parte in alto a sx un pò troppo desaturata.

bellissimo rossodisera, Giorgio...i riflessi sulle auto sono impressionanti quasi come il cielo. Vedendo il naviglio mi vengono in mente quei tre video girati per Elio, le Vibrazioni e Frankie Hi NRG, uno legato all'altro, gran genialata...
la luce l'hai gestita molto bene non esagerando con lo schiarire il primo piano...bravo!
