Photographer's Note

The "Naviglio Grande" is an artificial canal which branches off from the Ticino river till Milan. It was built to defend in 1179 but later on it became very important as a line of communication.
With this second aim it transported the marbles which were necessary to build the Milan Main Cathedral, The Duomo
From the beginning of the last century till 1960s it carried millions of cubic metres of sand which were used for the most to build the city of Milan.

SOLE E NEVE

Il Naviglio Gande è un canale artificiale che si dirama dal Ticino e si spinge fino a Milano.
Nato come opera di difesa (1179) in seguito ha assunto notevole importanza quale via di comunicazione.
Come tale è servito al trasporto dei marmi necessari per la costruzione del Duomo di Milano.
Dai primi del novecento fino agli anni sessanta ha permesso il trasporto di milioni di metri cubi di sabbia che hanno contribuito in larga misura alla costruzione della città di Milano.

The lines of the path and the water creates a nice
depth and the open spaces in the picture (great

Hello Luciano,
even if I´m not winter fan(low temperatures and snow-brrr cold,definitely not for me:),I can not deny beauty of this scene.The way you composed it is superb.The man in the distance walking alone adds some nice,soltitude feeling to the composition.I like it.
But also these trees covered with snow look marvelous and the blue sky above them adds lovely and captivating contrast.

Superbly shot winter scene, making a great picture from the gentle curve of road and the trees leaning in from left and right. Great sky, so blue to balance the white of the snow. This is an excellent exposure of the scene, and a good note.

con questa foto hai rimesso piede in Italia e per ssere in stagione hai proposto un bel naviglio ricco di neve, di gelo, ma anche di azzurro.
La foto è ben realizzata e i parametri tecnici (luminosità, contrasto, etc.) mi sembrano tutti ben dosati.
Lo dimostra anche il buon punteggio fin qui realizzato.

Just beautiful the whole content of this image looks so lovely - the colours - reflections & the lovely soft snowfall on the trees looks great.
I love the snow - sadly - living where we do here in Australia we see very little snow fall... I grew up in England & have many SNOW stories to tell & my memories of the little birds '' Robins with their red breasts visiting our windows on Christmas morning was such a treat.
Magical moment for me - this image also reminds me of my Winter works along the old canals.

Hello Luciano - This is one of the best winter shots I have seen recently; I think it is the elegant curve of the road which follows the line of the river and grounds the shot which really appeals. Flanked, as it is, by snow covered trees, beautifully detailed and fine on the LHS and contrasted by denser growth on the right the composition is elegant, simple and striking. You have a fine range of contrasting tones and textures all topped off by the delicate blue sky. Wonderful shot. Warm regards rosemary
