Photographer's Note

Whit this pic from the arches of Villa Annoni in Cuggiono, I want to wish all the friends of the TE better things for the new year, full of health, peace, love, money and travel.(see WS too)

The imposing villa Annoni stands out in the southern part of Cuggiono; it was built on the basis of the plans by Zanoja during the early 1800's and extended after 1920 by Cicogna. Its large fenced-off park is the second largest of its kind in Lombardy, after that of the royal villa in Monza. Designed in compliance with the forms of the English garden, still today it has a beautiful variety of landscape views, moved by the curvilinear progression of the trails, the creation of artificial little hills, a small lake, as well as the presence of precious and by now secular plants. The historical-architectural value of the villa is still important, with its central body and two side wings and, in the garden, a coffee-house, the doe and deer house, an ionic temple and the lemon-houses. Having been passed on to new owners over time (the Cicogna family first and then the Bellora family), from 1979 the villa became municipal property and from 2007 after a gradual and partial restoration intervention, it became the headquarters of the municipality.

Villa Annoni (passata poi per proprietà alla famiglia Cicogna), è una maestosa villa neoclassica, risalente all'epoca napoleonica, edificata nel 1809 dall'architetto milanese Zanoja. L'edificio presenta una tipica pianta a "U" il che fa supporre che sia stata edificata su un edificio preesistente, risalente quasi certamente al Settecento. Il corpo centrale era destinato ad abitazione, mentre i corpi laterali svolgevano la funzione di locali di servizio, stalle e scuderie: l'intera superficie coperta supera i 4000 m2 La villa è decorata con pregevolissime ed imponenti colonne di granito di Baveno, che coronano una piccola scalinata anch'essa in granito, ai lati della quale si trovano due sculture rappresentanti due leoni araldici in marmo bianco. Il portone è in ferro battuto e lastroni di cristallo ed è andato probabilmente a sostituire un più antico portale in legno.Segno distintivo della villa è certamente l'immenso parco, di 230.000 m2, realizzato in stile romantico con tratti all'inglese, ricco di piante indigene ed esotiche, che ancora oggi come si distingue come il secondo parco recintato più grande della Lombardia. All'interno, si ritrovano diverse specie arboree europee, americane, africane ed asiatiche, giunte per ravvivare il gusto d'epoca dell'esotico. I viali, sterrati, conducono attraverso scenari singolari, come un laghetto con delicate ninfee bianche o gli immensi prati o ancora il grande vigneto che ancora si estende su parte della superficie del giardino. Uno degli ambienti più suggestivi è sicuramente il tempietto a colonne, aperto, con volta affrescata con volta illusoria, dedicato alla famiglia Annoni, sotto il quale si trova un busto del fondatore della villa, risalente al 1827, che è situato al termine del lungo parco recintato da una possente muraglia in mattoni, ancora d'epoca di costruzione della villa. Alla medesima epoca risalgono, all'interno della villa, anche due strutture in mattoni, ossia la casa del custode del giardino ed il capanno degli attrezzi, oggi inagibili o usati come depositi dal comune che, insediatosi nella villa, ne garantisce la cura e il mantenimento. Ovunque si possono notare panchine o statue, sempre di gusto neoclassico-romantico. Recentemente sono stati introdotti anche fagiani dorati,cigni e pavoni che hanno la caratteristica di essere lasciati liberi nel parco.

One really doesn't think of peacocks in the snow! A well framed image using the archways to look out onto the snowy landscape. The peacocks are nicely placed and add interest to the scene. The wintry atmosphere is very well evoked with a good range of tones. All the best to you and yours for 2013!

This is a very beautiful scene. The arches act like a welcoming doorway, symbolically taking us from the old, into the new year. They make a pleasing contrast with the soft, white, textured snow.
The peacocks are the neat and apt detail, looking in the right direction and producing the footprints to lead us there.

J'aime beaucoup la construction de cette image. Le faisan est parfaitement placé au milieu de l'arche centrale et donne de la profondeur à l'image. Les arbres givrées sont le meilleur arrière plan possible.

Hello Luciano, unique and amazing winter picture of the magnificent Villa and its surroundings with the natural presence of the beautiful peacocks!
The frozen trees and the virgin, untouchable snow on the ground are two great highlights and the moody look of the sky makes your picture look sad but lovely.

Un gran bel POV tra gli archi di questa villa bella ed imponente. I pavoni danno un'altro elemento di classe qui e hai gestito la luce perfettemente, specialmente nel sfondo.

Magnifique photo et belle fenêtre sur 2013. C'est nous c'est ce qu'on va voir demain matin en regardant par la fenêtre mais sans les paons. Excellente composition et les arches sont superbes. Le paysage avec les arbres enneigés est de toute beauté.
j'irais bien prendre un verre à ton bar mais je vais en prendre un ici à ta santé pour terminer l'année.

Tout est beau sur cette photo, Luciano. Le coin a embrasse les paons et tu as su marier toutes les qualites scenographiques de ce paradis. Et on obulie que la temperature est basse. Tellement c'est romantique.

Foto idiliaca che sembra venuta fuori da una bellissima fiaba. Superbi i colonati arquati inclinati leggermente in avanti il che dà una spinta all' occhio per guardare avanti. Bellissimo il sottofondo innevato ed arricchito dalla presenza dei Pavoni. Mi piace la colorazione bella e delicata. Ottimo lavoro Luciano e grazie di averlo condiviso.
