For me, with my background working in documentary film, part of a good photograph (mine or others) is the element of story. And the one behind this shot, the first in a series I will post from Italy, is a funny one.
This guy works in a marble quarry in Brescia, in northern Italy (where we were shooting part of a film.) At the time, he was responsible for laying down the lines to dynamite out enormous blocks of 'marmo' (marble.) It is a very dangerous job, one that can cost your life or limbs if a mistake is made.
This guy, however, didn't want anything to interfere with his suntan, so here you see he is working with even his "tidy whities" rolled up to avoid tan lines as much as possible ;)

Now, this is a rather unusual kind of travel picture, but why not? Maybe mainly for ladies to let there minds travel :-). It's an amusing documentary shot. His tan is impressive, but I think the colors generally could have been slightly less blue and red.

poor italian guy, his tan tone is lighter than my usual skin :PP
i think he was trying to carve a heart on the marble, but that will not help either...

Well, if he doesn't blow himself to bits, he'll probably develop skin cancer! Nice grab, not pin sharp, but that's the nature of the beast. I like his reaction to your camera.

Hmmmm, lets see...where to begin here?? Oh yeah, WTF? :) Why am I not surprised though, oh my...this is classic! I hope he's not speaking for the whole of Italy, but yeah, I can see it....in fact, I think everyone can see it! :o
What a capture, this is something that makes for amusement, bewilderment, and curiosity. I can't imagine there aren't some sort of legality issues, health & safety, that would have been in place to be working in such an environment....but hey, to each their own! Your background shines through in this shot, giving an idea of the workplace and the natural surrounding that helps tell the story here. I'm not sure what else to say...I'm still laughing...gotta' love it! :)
Have a great night. Take care.
Friendly regards from cactus country,

Hi Kristin. A MAN with a great figure as hard as rock and steel. For me it is a kind of Tarzan - and maybe he feels that way. Overall, well seen and well presented.

So nice to see you here. How could I resist this Italian Adonis (well at least in his own mind) and his well-filled budgie-smugglers? Has he shoved a sock down there or something? ;) Anyway, I love the shot, it's hilarious. It makes me think of a photo I posted a while a called Bounty In Budgie-Smugglers, my model was a little less tanned and about 70 years older...shudder. The things men do to themselves...and us. Anyway, thanks for the laugh, loved your note too :)
Have a lovely weekend
