Vernazza is one of the five towns in Italy's Cinque Terre region. It has no car traffic and remains one of the truest "fishing villages" on the Italian Riviera.
Vernazza is the fourth town heading north into the Cinque Terre.
The Cinque Terre are five coastal villages in the province of La Spezia in the Liguria region of Italy.
The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all encapsulated in a national park by the same name. The Cinque Terre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The five villages are, from west to east:

Just yesterday I reviewed a photo by you, and I am happy I had just logged onto TE to find another gem that you just submitted. It's a wonderful composition, excellent perspective, brilliant colors and with a succinct, but informative and engaging note again. Moeover, the title is entirely approprate! I will certainly keep up with your photos in the future, as it is more than clear, you bring a great deal to TrekEarth.

Effective long lens compression here, beautifully sharp shot, and the large peach coloured building lower right is a good anchor.
MiguelP (14466) 2007-04-19 17:50
Interesting photo Kris. I love this kind of framing avoiding references from outside the buildings, beside, here the colors are so good that together with the shapes create what you have very well title as Cubism. I also like the vertical aspect of it, which make the photo a bit expresionist as well. Thanks and take care.

Great composition and colors, fantastic graphics.
mporta (3810) 2007-04-19 17:59
I like very much this kind of composition without the sky and with low depth between the houses. Besides the colours are bright and beautiful.
Charo (51208) 2007-04-19 18:18

Muy buena captura.

A great photo. Its thumbnail looks like an abstract - your title is fitting. Your POV is very good and it is composed well. The sharpness is good and the colors are wonderful. Very well done!
berseph (1758) 2007-04-19 22:24
Nice POV Kris. Love the colors and the repetition in the buildings that you captured here. Quite in interesting little town.
dmarizz (2796) 2007-04-20 4:25
the best feature of this picture is for sure that one can feel himself immersed in the subject. Geometry and colors are simply stunning. Congratulations and best regards, Dario

From the thumbnail to large format, this one deserves a big smile: wonderful colors, excellent crop, nice choice of square format and good use of graphics. How nicely the architecture is preserved! Looks like a truly inviting place for photography. TFS,

Hi Kris, this picture is really good, i do like the "cubismo" you give to it, all this pattern of colors, of buildings, of windows, yes this is eyes catching, a really good catch !
polter (7239) 2007-06-25 4:57
Hi Kris !
I'm wandering through your astounding gallery in ave. So many amazing shots from so many countries. At last I think I stop at this one so impressively pictouresque, almost abstract. What striked me - there is almost no sun on the walls still they are so colorfull and there is a strange feeling as windows are blind with shutters in most of the windows... I like very much the composition and tight croping - no sky at all. Great shot.
cyrrhus (2878) 2007-08-16 14:19
Groeten Eric /.

Photographie très originale aux couleurs chatoyantes. Ce grand format lui sied bien. Netteté et lumière impeccables.
Cormac (26545) 2007-10-10 7:13
I like the graphism and the abstraction of this, with the zoomed in view of the buildings converting them from recognizable buildings to a collection of shapes and colours. Interesting and beautiful!
smarcell (19963) 2007-11-25 2:10
I really love this one, so colorfull and well composed, flattened by the zoom. Perfect
marietom (34607) 2007-11-25 2:32
Une autre photo très colorée de ta galerie ajoutée dans mes thèmes. Plein de détails, c'est superbe !
baclama (16693) 2007-11-25 9:08

giorgimer (34722) 2008-01-05 5:13
excellent detail, the effect is really surprising. It seems to be watching a painting. Very good colors.
Benedict (7064) 2008-01-29 21:03
amazing compo. at first glance i was to compare this to colored matchboxes arranged intricately on top of each other like a kid's work, but hey, this isn't!
the mid and deep colors are brimming with warmth! wonderful colorful capture!
clio (27955) 2008-02-06 1:55
I discover your gallery today. A lot of beautiful things and places which I like between your photos of Italy and Greece!
I stop on this one perfectly made a success in the centring and the treatment of colors to emphasize these houses of Ligurie and their balconies decorated sometimes with the linen which dries.
I think that you often saturate little colors on your photos of Italian walls (photos of Venice for example), here it is particularly well done.
PaulVDV (18754) 2008-02-16 4:10
Great POV, very good composition and of course the colours make it extra beautiful.
Well done, Paul
Wandering_Dan (3449) 2008-11-26 15:33
Hi, Kris -
A very imaginative closeup shot that is indeed cubistic, taking full advantage of the shapes and colors in this arrangement.
npecanhuk (58246) 2009-05-02 9:33
That's such a "pearl"... such a precious picture!
With excellent sharpness, exposure, depth of field, a very well chosen pov and a smart composition, this image is impressively attractive and wonderful!
TFS - congratulations!

Kris: I like the jumbled Escher-esque qualities of this abstract canvas - you betray a fine eye here. c

THE WAY YOU PLAY WITH THE LIGHT AND WITH THE COLORS MAKES YOU TO HEAR HUMAN VOICES, BABY CRYINGS, EROTIC SIGH, BRAWLS BETWEEN COUPLES WITHOUT SEE JUST ONE PERSON.
THE CINQUE TERRE REGION IS ONE OF MY DREAM TO VISIT ONE DAY - VERY PICTURESQUE AND YOU BRING THIS FEELING INSIDE OUR HOMES
carlo62 (22375) 2012-02-01 14:48
Bellissima composizione, bello il taglio e belli i colori.
kiks (11743) 2012-10-17 10:30
This looks almost like a paiting. Fantatsic graffics and rythem and the colors are so warm. I can almost feel the sun here.
